Goodbye to Charlie's Restaurant

At one point the grilled cheese was $8.25 with MEAT (bacon or ham) and fries and a lot less if you requested it without meat and/or without fries.

But later on the price became $10.75 for everything.

So everybody is right.

Yeah, I must have gone before the price hike.

With gate traffic the way it's been, does anyone go off base (Pax) for lunch?

Time being what it is, if I don't pack it in, I don't eat.

There is simply no time to leave the base or stand in line (on base eatery)

I was wondering this mornng if the local places in LP city that rely on the lunch crowd were hurting - let's be honest, these places are not exactly the "in" locations after 5pm

Whenever I went to Charlies it was for my son; he liked the chicken fingers basket. I liked their food but I could always scrounge up something for me that didn't need cooking so I was just about always just going for him. I live right around the corner from the General Store and we have their menu. He's really picky. There's nothing on their menu that he will eat. He just called a minute ago in fact and asked me to stop at Charlies.

That sucks, because I understand his pickiness is difficult for you. :frown: Not even a hot dog from SIGS interests him? My husband loves their hot dogs.

They have great food. Really.

Had the Greek Chicken Salad from SIGS on Monday for lunch, today is really looking like a St James pizza - trying to support these local food shops and keep them up and running.

I never cared for Charlie's food - sorry to see it closed, though.

Just looked at their online menu, rabbit burger????? icky...their gyro looks pretty tasty though and I saw something called a dessert threesome..trio..something like that. I'm all for three desserts!

The gyro is good, but I don't understand the extra charge for Feta cheese on it - isn't that a main ingredient of a gyro?

I got lunch at SIGS yesterday and asked about the rabbit burger. It's 95% beef and 5% rabbit.

I had a chicken sammich which was really good.
