Worse than Spiro Agnew?

Spiro Agnew??

How old are you!??

Not old enough to call him "Teddy"

The problem is, THE LEGISLATURE CAN NOT MAKE CUTS TO THE BUDGT DURING A SPECIAL SESSION BECAUSE THERE IS NO BUDGET TO CUT. O’Malley hasn’t even printed a budget, the only thing on the table at Special Session are tax increases. Miller knows that calling a Special Session to raise taxes looks bad, so he is throwing in the “cuts” part. O’Malley’s budget projections even include the fact that there WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL CUTS to the budget.

He could save $34,000 a day by not having a "special session"

A session where he already knows he has the votes needed to pass his increases. A session that is programmed from start to finish to rush this thing through come hell or high water.

This special session does not have a provision for working out a budget , Its sole purpose is to raise taxes

Send an email to your representatives and to the boy blunder.

The Socialist Party that infest Annapolis is about to put the screws to everyone. The Boy (the Boy = Martin) says taxes will be lower for 83% of Marylanders, and raise $1.7 billion a year from 17%. I do not believe him.

Here are some figures that I have seen

a 3¢ reduction in Property Tax
a $90.00 reduction in the first tier of income tax.

These two cuts will result in me paying about $150.00 in less tax to Maryland, however since these two taxes are deductible on the Federal return, I will pay about $50.00 in additional Federal Income Taxes.

So now the savings is only $100.00.

Sales tax up 20%, and extend the sales tax to services.

I expect to pay about $50.00 a year in the 20% jump and at least $50.00 a year on sales tax on services.

So now I break even.

The tax on auto sales will also go up 20%, I buy a new car about every four years. The last car I bought was over $20,000.00 so the additional tax on that would be over $200.00, average $50.00 a year.

I do not smoke, and do not favor a raise in tobacco tax. The smoker of a pack a day will pay an additional $390.55 a year in new taxes.

** Maryland tax on a pack of smokes is now $1.00 plus 5¢ sales tax on that $1.00
It will go up to $2.00 plus 12¢ tax on that $2.00, so a jump of $1.07 per pack.

The management fees on rental property management will also be subject to sales tax, do you rent? Consider the 5% fee the landlord will pay to be passed on to you.

The 1% jump in corporate taxes is an additional cost of doing business in Maryland, this fee will either be passed on to customers in higher prices, or some businesses will move out of Maryland, a potential loss of jobs and revenue from income taxes.

Maryland's consumer spending is 1/3 of the state economy, take $1.7 billion out of consumer spending and Maryland's retailers will suffer. Expect a reduction in payroll due to reduced sales. Also many Marylanders will go to Delaware were there is no sales tax. Others may choose not to spend.

Maryland does not have a revenue short fall Maryland spends too much of our money. Time to slash the budget.

Actually, everything I've read says that he's going into this without enough votes for support.

I think many in the general assembly want to get re-elected. Vote for this massive tax increase and many will be voted out in the next election.

Send an email to you representatives and let them know how you feel.

Maryland is spending too much of your money.

Who Are Your Elected Officials in Maryland?

The General Assembly is being swamped with email. Let them know how you feel.

I've only read that he faces opposition on slots, but that the reast should pass easily. Is there something I'm missing?

Majority rules and the majority of Marylanders obviously want high taxes and government handouts, or they wouldn't have voted these people into office in the first place.

So I will suggest that, unless you are a liberal Democrat, your representatives couldn't care less how you feel, so you might as well save your breath.

I honestly don't think these voters really understand the consequences of their actions. They vote ABR - anyone but Republican, period. Then they b*tch about high taxes and blame everything on the Republicans anyway instead of looking the problem in the face and voting it out. Frustrating isn't it?

You might be right. The stuff I saw really didn't specify what he didn't have the votes for. Maybe it is the slots issue.

Miller, D-Calvert, said he spoke to O'Malley on Sunday night, and that the governor told him he doesn't have enough votes to support all of his plan so far.
"There is not a consensus ... The governor doesn't have the votes," Miller told reporters shortly before O'Malley's announcement.

Because an enormous number of such voters will benefit from these WITHOUT actually paying any more in taxes.

Let's face it, if someone was running for the office of president of your company and the masses were told that the CEO's salary would get docked and everyone ELSE gets a raise, why WOULDN'T the masses vote for him?

Anyone who believes that they will pay less tax, well, I have the deed to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and will sell it to you.

Bidding starts at $Ten Billion.

Martin is telling you a lie.

Everyone will pay lots more in new taxes, or in higher prices to cover the new taxes on businesses in Maryland.

We should be in Annapolis on the 29th with torches and a bucket of tar and feathers, but unfortunately those about to be screwed have to work and earn, so O'Malley and his forty thieves can bend us over.
