ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that he has named Ariel Judah to serve as the state’s next director of federal relations. Judah, who has been the deputy director of the state’s federal office since 2017, will succeed Tiffany Waddell, who is departing the administration to become director of government relations for the National Governors Association.
In addition, Alex Milliken, currently a policy advisor in the governor’s office, will succeed Judah as the deputy director of federal relations.
“Ariel has been an invaluable member of our administration over the last five and a half years and will continue to help advance Maryland’s priorities at the federal level,” said Governor Hogan. “I want to sincerely thank Tiffany for her hard work and service to the people of Maryland, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with her in her new role at the National Governors Association.”
About Ariel Judah. Since 2015, Judah has served in the state’s federal office, first as special assistant to the director before becoming deputy director. She currently oversees the State of Maryland’s federal appropriations requests and works closely with the federal administration and Maryland congressional delegation. Prior to joining the Hogan administration, Judah served in the office of former U.S. Senator Jon Kyl. She is a graduate of American University.
About Alex Milliken. Since 2019, Milliken has worked as a policy advisor to the deputy chief of staff on health, human services, and labor issues. Prior to joining the Hogan administration, he worked as a legislative correspondent and special assistant to the chief of staff in the office of U.S. Senator John McCain.
Judah’s appointment is effective July 14.
