Bipartisan Summit Brings Together California, Maryland, Montana,Tennessee Governors and Representatives from 22 States
ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan, chairman of the National Governors Association (NGA), joined California Governor Gavin Newsom, Montana Governor Steve Bullock, and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee this week to lead an infrastructure summit in San Francisco focused on streamlining project delivery and integrating innovative technologies. This is the most recent in a year-long series of summits that Governor Hogan is holding as part of his national infrastructure initiative, “Infrastructure: Foundation for Success.”
“In states across the country, governors are working together in a bipartisan way showing real leadership, making real progress, and finding real solutions to the serious problems facing us,” said Governor Hogan. “Our nation’s governors on both sides of the aisle are finding new ways to innovate, to reform, and to drive the debate. My goal is to harness that strength and come up with all the best ideas in order to tackle the infrastructure issue that is so fundamental to our economy, environment, and our way of life.”
The summit’s events included a visit to downtown San Francisco’s Salesforce Transit Center, which connects the Bay Area with several transportation systems. This new transit hub features smart technologies, a public park, and environmentally sustainable design, making it an excellent model of how public-private partnerships can deliver innovative and effective transportation solutions.
Since assuming the NGA chairmanship in Salt Lake City in July 2019, Governor Hogan has convened infrastructure summits in Boston and Detroit, as well as an international study trip to Australia, all focused on the pillars of his national initiative. An additional summit is planned for Phoenix and international delegations planned for Canada and Japan.
