Who here has owned one of these beasts? I really want to get one but I'm curious as to how much work it's going to be. How much did you spend on dog food, are they good with kids....etc...etc. I was thinking about adopting one but I don't know how good of an idea that would be since I have small children.

I think you should get one, and then the two youngest could ride it around. So it's a two for one deal dog/pony

My friend has had quite a few...she currently has a G.D. puppy. He's already about 80 lbs, and only about 4 or 5 months old. They don't live very long, think the average is about 7 or 8 yrs. Her older G.D. that she recently lost due to age was trained very well and was wonderful w/ kids, never pulled on a leash.

Yeah well thier crap is the size of small children AND they don't live as long. They are sweet, my friend in HS had one who thought she was a lap dog.

No. Lots of heart and health issues. Really have to watch food intake (look at your current beast - that won't happen). How about you just get them a horse instead?

We had one too. He was awesome. Very sweet and gentle. My daughter when she was about 1 would sit on the floor and feed him his dog food, :lmao:. He'd clear the coffee table with one wag of his tail and ooohhh the drool. Several times a week I was cleaning it off the floor, tv, stereo etc. So it's like cleaning up after a little one. I can't wait til I can get another one, :lmao:
