Why would an alleged "News" site post something to faceplant but leave it off their actual web page? Some of us don't bother with faceplant for many reasons. If it's news, put it in on the news site. Otherwise it's just garbage like pictures of what they are having for dinner.
Like it or not or not Facebook is where people go now to find out "stuff". I was bitching the other day because no newspaper had a story about last week's film festival here in North Beach (there was a story about "Taste of the Beaches" in Chesapeake Beach) and was told that announcements are now put on Facebook instead of news outlets.

And Facebook is where many news organizations get their leads for stories. Hell, people post on Facebook about accidents, break-ins and assaults before they think of calling 911.

Meanwhile nothing is vetted on F***book before it is posted. Good luck using that as a news source. Might as well use Snopes

Pretty big police presence there today @ noon. I counted 8 police vehicles in the front of the school.

I'm sure they had an assembly to explain to the youngsters that fighting is bad... M'kay?
It's not that so much but to assure the students that this type of behavior will be dealt with in accordance to the Code of Conduct.

Does it work? Not usually but the effort has to be made.

Before anyone complains about the local School Boards keep in mind that the Maryland State Department of Education required the penalties for a lot of offenses be downgraded several years ago. An example or three would be an attack on a staff member went from being an immediate request for expulsion to a ten day suspension. Group fight went the same. Possession of weapons, alcohol or saleable amounts of drugs went from permanent expulsion (which applied to every school system in the state so the kid just couldn't move from Charles to St. Mary's) to a balance of the semester suspension.

Because... POLITICS. Equal outcomes. The same stuff we hear about who gets arrested and sent to jail.
So we just stop penalizing them for anti-social (bad) behavior.
