I voted for Buddy, Richie, and Bopper as well as Cobain since they were fairly early into their careers and had already had quite an impact but who knows what else was to come. I suppose Jimi and Janis could be thrown on as well by this criteria.

Lenin and Elvis were done changing music by the time they died.

wayyyyyyy down the FM dial is alternative progressive, unplugged music....one cannot speak of genre' excellence without mentioning: Dead Martha and the Farmers, Otis Crimsons Experience and Sandy and the Buttcrack Irritants....please continue with your bubblegum pop "music".....
