Went downtown yesterday to see what go on. It's a respectable traditional downtown with municipal stuff, not touristy or anything like that. The Paramount is their historic theater that plays old movies. There's a little park with sculptures of Dr. Seuss characters, playing on their designation as the Storybook Capital of America.
You wouldn't spend a vacation in Abilene, but it would be a nice place to live.
