They should be rounded up and taken to the shelter.
I told her that a while back. She thinks she is helping by feeding every feral cat that comes along. Disgusting, isn't it?

...the hell were you doing under the hood?
Ugg, while pulling out the peices, there was a live kitten in there as well. He said it scare the shait out of him when he went to pull thinking this was dead and it moved. I have the live kitten in a carrier I am going to take it to the emergency vet after he cleans the dead one out.
This is such a horrible day.
I think she does have help, its just a slow process of getting them all. I believe its a ferral colony. I could be wrong, but that was my impression on all of this. She has all my traps except one to aid in the cause and traps from others. Maybe when it gets colder out they will be easier to trap?
You really felt the need to start a thread about this?
How old is the kitten? Is it injured?
Dawn, can't you get any help from anyone to trap/spay/neuter and release those cats?
Who's kittens are these? How many more are there? They should be rounded up and taken to the shelter.

...it noted that I am withholding some really crass and insensitive comments, and funny, out of simple respect to the bad day you are having.
It's not easy, I know that. Years ago, Ott's parents' old neighbor lady was feeding a feral colony. Cats EVERYWHERE. It took some time but eventually they got them out of there.
I'd offer to help her with the baby if it's not hurt too badly.
Dawn, sorry your day sucks so bad. Sorry about your kitty. How old is the baby? Maybe you can keep it. Hope your day gets a little better.
Yes, I did because I didn’t know what to do. I have never had that happen before, and pray that it never happens again. People on here have usually been very helpful when I have a question regarding animals.
Actually I'm glad you posted about it Dawn. On chilly and cold mornings I'll know now to thump the hood before getting in my truck - hadn't really given it much thought before now.
One other thing I have learned in the past -- the cats like to jump up under the back of the truck and camp out in the spare tire. In the past I would pull in my driveway and partk. On two occassions while backing out of the driveway, I have run over two cats that have tried to jump out of the spare tire while I was backing up.
Now, I back in the driveway so when I leave, I am already facing forward and if there are in cats still the spare tire they can jump out while I am going forward and this way they dont get ran over. Since the driveway is so long to begin with, I go slow while so if they do jump out they wont get hurt and once I am at the end I stop and wait about 10 seconds to give any a chance to leap before pulling out.
When it is cold out, I hit my red button on the remote the alarm thingy that makes the horn beep, that way it scares them out of the front of the truck if they are there. I have just never never never had them in the motor part during the warm months.

Sorry to hear about the rough start to your day. Has your day gotten any better?
Pickups make good Feral Cat traps.. good to know.
Its and expedition Bob, not a pick up!
Do you bait the engine compartment with catnip, or just let the warmth attract before you give them the starter of death?
I'd start baiting under the hood with rat poisoned laced catfood. Who ownd all these cats you keep finding in your truck?
They are ferals Bob--but I take responsbility for feeding, spaying them and getting them shots.
Well as good as it can get. The past week for me is completely UGGGGHHH!
In the past week, my uncle was hospitalized, my well pump decided to go out on us with no warning at all, but on the upside to event, I found a wonderful company that came out and fixed it, the same night and the guy was there for four hours. I posted a thread about the company that came out http://forums.somd.com/home-garden/153993-johnson-well-service.html wonderful service; I lost my dog, upside to that is I found him; and I have killed two cats.
I only hope next week gets better. My husband said the truck kinda smells now. I am thinking that maybe we should trade it in.
I would wait if you could and just try to scrub it down really good. Not that it would do inside but when I take my truck to the automatic carwash in CH they use a soap that smells like bubble gum and it gets in my vents and smells nice... maybe that might help? I say don't trade it in now because the market is kind of bad on SUVs right now... at best...wait until winter where you can play up the 4-wheel drive feature to try to compensate for the poor gas mileage
I have never had this happen before, but there is a first for everything. My husband went to start the truck this morning and a cat was under the hood. He tried to start the truck, weird thump noise, we kinda figured we may have knew what it was, he lifted the hood and our fear was reality. How do we get it out?
Consider yourself lucky. I have to re-wire my jeep, completely, thanks to a cat that had taken up residence under the hood as evidenced by the muddy paw prints and white cat hair that were left behind. I'll trade ya!
