I went to get some more Eukanuba GSD specific food at Petco and they were out of it. The worker said the food was recalled and won't be out for a while. He said to try Royal Canin GSD food instead, he claimed it was a better quality food? It was definitely more expensive... My girl is a pretty picky eater. Luckily, my bag of Eukanuba wasn't affected by the recall but I still need to find a replacement. What dry food do you feed your GSD's?

I have enough Eukanuba left to transition her over.

We have played with our GSD's food due to allergies and they are doing well on Blue Buffalo - its a little pricy but between the itching and not eating we have found Royal Canin and Blue Buffalo to be the best for GSD breeds.

I looked at that. The food our Labs eat only has a 1 star rating . I feel like a bad mommy.

We feed ours only Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul...Supposedly the best on the market..No problems with alergies, rashes...Every now and then, I drizzle gravey, or afew small peices of meat in her bowl......

There are many foods better than Chicken soup but overall, it is not a bad food. It contains probiotics and yucca; which helps the gut and gassiness. Chicken soup is reasonably priced as well.
Taste of the Wild is also a very good food. It is grain free and also very affordable.
Many dogs like fresh raw veges...try some green beans or broccoli or carrots. Some dogs like bananas and other fruits as well.

Blue Buffalo was recently on a recall. I am guessing it is safe now if Petco is still selling it.

What exactly is a RAW diet? I've heard of this before but didn't know what it consisted of.

BARF means Bones and Raw Food or Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. Raw diets for dogs consist of raw meaty bones, muscle and organ meat, some feed veggies or fruits and scraps or yogurt and cottage cheese.

My dogs love it and i find its cheaper then spending alot of money on expensive grain free foods.

some of the raw was recalled a few months back as well :shrug:
but its rare ... (or raw)

The prepared raw is too expensive, i get my own meat from a wholesale place.

My dogs do very well on raw; they have been on it for about 4 months.

Taste of the Wild is great and my dogs do really well on it. Not to mention that it's more cost effective than any of the natural or grain free food you will find at money grubbing Petco.
