Gun Confiscation

As different states are looking at their gun laws in the aftermath of mass shootings, the Illinois State House and Senate passed a bill in late February that would require 18- to 20-year-olds to turn in their “assault rifles” within 90 days.

The Associated Press reports Democratic Rep. Michelle Mussman sponsored the bill, and it passed in the House 64-51.

If signed into law, it will prohibit people under 21 years old from buying or possessing “assault rifles,” high-capacity magazines, and .50-caliber rifles.

“There’s always the debate about whether or not it’s appropriate to have a discussion in the heat of the moment,” Mussman said on the House floor. “But I think that what we are seeing right now is a demand from the public that we stop kicking this down the road. That we actually do something about this.”

I wonder when the last time was that a .50 caliber rifle was used in the commission of a gun crime.

How many times can GURPS post a link about the same story? Who knows...he needs the nickels...so I guess you have your answer.

Let's look at the concluding paragraphs of this most recent propaganda...can YOU spot the stupidity??? No? Why am I not surprised???

If there is an upside to this, it’s that officials say the plan isn’t to go door to door looking for guns. However, anyone age 18- to 20-years-old in possession of a banned firearm will be charged with a misdemeanor.

As if that makes everything all better.

First, let’s bear in mind that this is the same age category we regularly see enlist in the military...

It also happens to be the same age at which they cannot drink a beer.

...where they’re trusted with far more firepower than the average American will ever see anywhere outside of a movie. They’re issued actual select fire and fully automatic weapons and, in a war zone, are required to be armed at all times.

Yes...true...the stupidity is that these young men and women are under direct supervision they cannot randomly walk down the street shooting people...they can fire under rules of engagement and they are required to obey the orders of those superior to them in rank (you know like that Colonel who "dictated" to Psyops a few weeks back)

Since we first responded in the wake of 9/11, there have been no incidents in American-controlled territory that would change that.

Which means what exactly? The bill in question does not change military authority in a combat zone.

Then they get home and are suddenly unable to be trusted with certain weapons? Are you kidding me?

Last time I looked a stretch in the military was 4 years. So anyone enlisting at 18 would be of legal age to own any legal firearm in Illinois. This is not difficult math to figure out.

You don't think that 18-20 year olds in the service have time off like everyone else in the working world. It's not like the ones who enjoy the shooting sports don't shoot for fun and enjoyment when not working..

Pass a law that men and women cannot join the military until they are 21,and have 2 years of college.

see where that gets you.

How many 18 to 21 year olds can afford a 50 cal?

What's mine is my son's, he's been shooting my Armalite for years now.
He shot our Amac once and that was memorable enough not to do that again.
It's a small club with any type of Fifty BMG rifles, but you do see quite a few youngsters when you shoot at the ranges with decent distance.
