I think what I heard was thunder. I still here it every 15 minutes or so.

Def could be lightning/thunder. I just looked at the radar with lightning info, and I've never seen it so busy...

Don't know what to tell you? It is part of my job at work to monitor the NWS radio when it trips on and it alerted just after 2000 hrs and has been updating every few mintues since then.
