Hair...

Be about it
...as of last night, I've officially had it with my regular hair salon. I went a couple mos. ago and got highlights for the 1st time ever. I wasn't pleased w/them at all b/c the guy who did them made them way too thin for my thick hair - they got lost and you could barely see them. I went in a few weeks later and got them re-done and thickened by my regular haircut gal (on the house). All was well after that, although I was still irritated with my initial experience because it took over 3 hours even though I only got the top layers done, and not highlights throughout. Anyway...

I go back last night to get the highlights touched up at the roots. They apparently overbooked in a major way because the girl would do a few things on me, then go away and work on someone else...come back...go away...come back...go away. I was getting irritated because overall I was there for WAY longer than necessary. I'm talking over 3 hours before I was finally finished and in the styling chair for some mousse. Once I sat in front of the mirror, I looked over my hair and realized she'd missed a huge section in the front and you could still majorly see the roots! I'm going back next week to have that spot touched up, which of course means more time wasted on something that should have been done correct in the 1st place. They charge an arm and a leg there so I just can't imagine why 2x in a row they've hosed it up.

I love the girl who cuts my hair there, but I'm tired of wasting time and $$ there and am finding a new place. I don't like the Unique Chic sort of places, though. Any ideas, I'll need a trim soon?

One of these days, maybe tommorrow, I am going to go to the Blades beauty school. There cheap and they should do a better job then the crap I have done to mine own hair. I'll let you know if I like the results......

U talking about Hair It Is? I've got thick hair also and I'm always in there for at least 3 hours+, but I've always been very please with how my hair turns out.

There is a place on Exploration Dr. 301-863-8153 HAIR IT IS. There is a gal there named Kim , she is awesome. I have had some serious hair nightmares in the places around here and she has never made a mistake. The owner requires girls to get continuing education, not like most local places. They have a good waxer and do facials and massages too!!!. I love this place. They are a bit more $$ than most. I paid about 85-100 for a cut and shade( like a dye job only not so damaging) I can tell you where NOT to go. Just Pm me so I am not publicly bashing anyone.

Not dead yet.
Don's barber shop in Prince Frederick on Duke Street. $10 for a haircut. Of course, you have to listen to Don for like an hour and he doesn't really cut ladies hair. Maybe if you don't mind lookin' like a guy when you leave?

I'm going through the painfully slow stage of not cutting it and letting all my layers grow out. :frown: I look horrible. :frown:

Where are my pants?
I used to go to S-Kape in Leonardtown, but it seems like you have to book an appointment 4 months in advance anymore to get a slot there....plus they take 3 hours to do anything (although, admittedly, the quality was there).

I've now started making the trek up to a salon right next to Nick's Grocery on the way to Waldorf. It's very clean, fairly priced, and I've had top-notch service everytime I've gone there.

Good luck.

Studio Mirage. That's where I went when I lived in Waldorf. :howdy:

I can relate. It is so hard down here to find a good stylist. Once you do they move and never tell you where they went. I would highly recommend Susan at JC Penney in Wildewood.

Hey there lady.....I get my hair done at Hair Solomons. I love it there. I have a friend Beverly that works there. She does an excellent job. The place is very clean and they even serve you wine if you want it while your getting your hair done. Nothing like getting drunk while your hair is being chopped on. That way you won't care what your hair looks like. J/K. They are very nice there. Prices aren't too bad either.
