Maryland's Goatman Is Half Man, Half Goat, and Out for Blood - Modern Farmer

Prince Georges County is about 500 square miles of green fields dotted with suburbs, located just outside Washington D.C. in Maryland. Its less than a million inhabitants enjoy nature preserves, historic reenactments, an annual blues festival and a sparkling waterfront development on the Potomac. In other words, it’s fairly bucolic. And, of course, beneath the surface of every bucolic locale roils something dark and fierce. Meet the Goatman.

When scared teenagers whisper about Goatman, not all agree on the form he takes. Some say he was a man who kept goats and went mad after teenagers killed his flock, driven to seek revenge against any youngster. But perhaps the most titillating version traces the origin of Goatman to the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, a sprawling USDA facility anchored by a big brick building appointed with white columns. In this version, a mad scientist is conducting experiments on a goat when something goes horribly wrong, turning him into a half man-half goat beast that is, naturally, hungry for blood.

Me and some friends thought we saw goatman when we were younger. Alcohol :otter: and drugs  were involved so we cant be 100% sure of what we saw.

Surely you jest ...
Legends, every state/county has at least one. Adds spice.

Strange noises in the woods behind you as you sit on the wall of the little bridge with the boy of your dreams. ....BOO!!!! Hold her tight buddy (oops I didn't mean to touch your boob sorry) he tells you its ok, he's not afraid of goatman. Then you see him! There he is, right over to the left with a bottle of Boones Farm apple and a Kool in his mouth. Looking a lot like Chuck in a instant you realize that is a Peters jacket. Gigs up, get your hand off my #$$ I'm not that scared.

Never giving up of course. The next thing out of his mouth is "Ever been snipe hunting?" I think that one came to P.G. via SM.

Wow, I loved being young. being sent out to those boys of our youth that tried so hard. Just one question though "Who was zooming who?" Do you really think we were that ditsy? ;)

Dont forget the Snallygaster too.
Snallygaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Snallygaster was described as half-reptile, half-bird with a metallic beak lined with razor-sharp teeth, occasionally with octopus-like tentacles. It swoops silently from the sky to pick up and carry off its victims. The earliest stories claim that this monster sucked the blood of its victims. Seven-pointed stars, which reputedly kept the Snallygaster at bay, can still be seen painted on local barns.

I saw Goatman when I was coming through Old Town Bowie around 3am, That was 35 yrs ago. I didn't think he was still alive.
I know he was on a TV show a few years ago, something about urban legends. Mothman, etc.

The only man I know who is hungry for the life-blood of this state sits comfortably in an office in Annapolis. Happily, he'll be leaving us, however he leaves with visions (delusions, really) of being able to suck the life out of then entire country next. He does have sort of a goat-like look, especially around the eyes. He scares me and my wallet twice a month.

Our goatman when going up (late 60's), was on Tucker Road in Oxon Hill at the one lane bridge. Place was dark and creepy back then with the creek and the woods. I always sped up when going through there.
My brother once took off in the car and left the girl he was dating at the time there on the side of the road in the dark. I dont remember if he went back and got her or not, they didnt date very long. lol.
