Ham Loaf

I have this recipe for Ham Loaf that my grandmother used to make....

It calls for ground pork and ground ham. Are there any grocery stores around St. Mary's that routinely have these items out? Or, do you know of any grocery stores that would grind them for me if I asked?

Ground pork is easy to find. Never seen ground ham, but I'm sure any decent butcher could do it for you.

Thanks. I went to Giant today to see if I could get it there, but as my luck with have it, the power was out and they had all of the meat section covered in plastic with duct tape on the top and the bottom.... I shall try again tomorrow. :)

Strange. Last time I went to Giant to get something custom ground, they were understaffed and could not help me. Staff was nice, but it was a "NO". Time before that, same thing, and I couldn't even get any meat. I will no longer shop there.

Food Lion next to KMart in California. I have the best luck there. Pick up what you want and have them grind to order.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll run in there tomorrow!

You're welcome. If the butcher is on break you will have to go back. Best of luck and please share the recipe. We are tired of standard meatloaf.

This is word for word what is written on the recipe card. I've never made it so let's hope it turns out....

Seems like a long time to bake.

Bunch of perverts.

I inherited a hand operated meat grinder. Beautiful piece of machinery. The suction cup I was supposed to mount on my counter had gone dry.

I get the butcher to take care of me now.

:roflmao:

Will I piss everyone off if I say eww?

No.

I'm still trying to perfect a salmon loaf.

I have a very old meat grinder... all cast iron... we used to grind up ham and make ham salad with it but it is a total PITA to clean.

I never had to clean it since I couldn't anchor it.

I am not going to buy a new piece of equipment (no room in the kitchen) when the butchers I've met are pleasant and like to grind for me.
