Sounds pretty critical to me. And that "enjoy yourselves" was in no way sarcastic

Here's a thought...next time you are "TRYING to say that if you are looking for a local source of news and/or a conservative alternative to the Post", you should TRY to provide one. And your 10 sources (when you did post them) aren't exactly conservative alternatives to the Post.

Look, I can't do everything for you. You have to exert a little effort yourself. Or get your repub cronies to help out. I did provide some, there's not a lot. The Capital is the only one that comes to mind local unless you want to throw in the Extras and the Recorders.

As far as national news, I gave you MSNBC, Ken Hamblin, The Nation and The Tribune (once staunch conservative, now shifted a little right of centrist over the past 20 years because of the increased need to sell to increasing minorities). The only thing you have left really as far as wide-press is Fox News and the WSJ. Happy now?

I admit - freely - it has a right wing slant. And it is owned by the Moonies. B*g f*cking deal. The Christian Science Monitor is one of the world's best papers, and it's owned by religious nut-jobs. Being owned by a crazy nut doesn't mean its journalistic quality is poor. Look at who owned CNN.

Just because you don't *agree* with its content, doesn't make it a worthless rag. It's got a long pedigree, and has the kudos to prove it.

Fine, go then, read away! Enjoy yourselves! I can post just as many articles on how Sun Myung Moon said he created the Times to "fulfill Gods desire to save the world" starting with America, to Korea Gate, to the Iran-Contra Scandles, but I won't mainly because I don't care that much.

I will never say anything else bad about the Times from here on. As a matter of fact, if I hear anyone else ever say anything else bad about the Times, I will shoot him in the nuts or her in the trachea. Everyone happy now?

Just get a grip, ok? No one expects you to be a shill for them. But categorical dismissal of them is JUST AS STUPID as categorical dismissal of the Post or the NYT.

I could care less if Moon owns the Times. Ted Turner used to own CNN, and I think he's certifiable. I mentioned that the Christian Science Monitor is regarded as one of the world's premier newspapers. Marriott is owned by the Mormons. Who gives a crap? Base your judgment on *content*, not prejudice.

I will challenge you with a categorical dismissal of the WashTimes vs. the Post and the NYT based on *content* anyday. If I ever get the energy and the care, I'll let you know.

Not dead yet.
OK, it's break time at work and I see the http has gone off for the past few hours, taking time away from his erudite media sources such as Howard Stern and the Don and Mike show.

As I've mentioned to you before, I find your backhanded mention of the moonies to be a religiously bigoted statement that detracts from whatever logic your arguments might hold.

Regarding your sources, every programmer knows the same same old song "garbage in, garbage out."

Have a great time fuming over this and attempting to insult me, maybe I'll catch your response during an afternoon break.

Two words...Jayson Blair. Funny how you are quick to slam a paper because of who owns it, but forgive when the reporters (ya know, the ones that write the stuff in the pages) are questionable. What's also funny is that while trying to remember Jayson Blair's name (I searched Amazon since I knew he just wrote a book), I found multiple books that slam NYT. A search for the Washington Times and Post don't come up with similar books. I wonder why that is...

Oh, and here's a Moonie for ya :moon: ...j/k...had to do it.

Thanks for the Moonie, yea that hurt. I can't wait for the day when an discussion on SOMD can go 10 pages without someone resorting to 14 year old wisecracks. I see I will have to wait a little longer. Glad to see you're comfortable with yourself though, that's all that counts.

I read all about the Jayson Blair incident a long time ago and saw all of the specials on it. Crazy stuff especially the 911 party and the Texas soldier article. I may read his book, but of course he had to play the race card with it, and that really turns me off.

Like I said, when I'm ready to go toe to toe with you on paper to paper, I'll let you know. Really don't care that much right now, and don't have the time, but I do have the confidence. So confident that I'll give you even another liberal paper reporter fabrication story that just came out. Ever heard of Jack Kelley? Look him up, he wrote for USA Today. Put that in your stable, I still won't have a problem.
