Harbor Freight coming to SMC has been suspected for quite some time. Now it appears to be official.

CALIFORNIA, Md. – Shasho Consulting, P.A. Commercial Real Estate announced on April 28, 2023, that Harbor Freight Tools is set to open a store in the Laurel Glen Shopping Center. The store will occupy a portion of the former Weis space located at 45315 Alton Lane.

Pro Tip:

When you shop at HF, park your car far away from the entrance. This will ensure you do not pick up a nail or screw in your tires from the beds of the pickup trucks driven by the hillbilly handymen that get all their tools from HF

Well hell. Been thinking about buying a predator engine to swap my dead riding lawnmower after I saw the review on project farm.

Bold of you to assume I am not a hillbilly handyman. Now you will pick up the nails that I drop when I park out there to avoid someone else's nails.

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....

I need to check them out. I'd like to replace the Tecumseh on an old Troy-Bilt cultivator I have.
I have 2 Honda GVC 160 vertical shaft motors from dead pressure washers if they meet the shaft sizes you gents are looking for. I can't understand why manufacturer's would pair a beautiful motor like the GVC with a low budget pressure unit, but they do. Maybe it's a ploy to make the consumer think that the whole unit is a quality item. As for HF moving closer to us, I'm with Sneakers, there goes the budget. :ohwell:

One is 7/8" x 2" and the other is 7/8" x 2.75"

Damn, I'd love a Honda, but they ain't cheap. Unfortunately, I need a horizontal shaft motor.

If you've got a Pony or Horse model, I have experience repowering them with the Predator 212cc and 223cc.

I do have a nice cast iron block Kohler 8hp, but the side plate is drilled and tapped for the larger pattern, so it wouldn't bolt up to the Horse without drilling and tapping the smaller pattern.

I've also got an 8hp Honda GX240 that needs a little attention. I believe a chinesium carburetor is all it needs. Someone lost the governor linkage, but I got that off of eBay about a year ago. It never ran w/o the governor hooked up and was a sweet runner when pulled. That one I'll have to dig for though. That will require a new drive pulley which I just happen to have.

Troybilt used proprietary engines on those things so you had to go back to them for parts, the bastages. :burning:

I don't always agree with this guy's methods of testing, but it's still useful.

That's the thing, if you have suggestions he will absolutely listen to them. Sometimes he redoes the entire test if he gets a few good suggestions.

I should have said that it was vintage.

It just so happens that I have 2 vintage Tecumsehs buried somewhere. One is a 3hp and the other I believe a 2 1/2hp. The only one less than 3hp I've ever seen. The 3 was running 20+ years ago when I stored it. I think they're both points motors.

Truthfully it ran about 5-6 years ago, but it was a ornery b!tch. It would run sometimes, and then it wouldn't. Then it wouldn't restart after running a while. Probably just needs some TLC, but I got tired of messing with it.
