Harbor Freight coming to SMC has been suspected for quite some time. Now it appears to be official.

CALIFORNIA, Md. – Shasho Consulting, P.A. Commercial Real Estate announced on April 28, 2023, that Harbor Freight Tools is set to open a store in the Laurel Glen Shopping Center. The store will occupy a portion of the former Weis space located at 45315 Alton Lane.
Hmmm, might jump ship for a new Part Time gig.

No thanks.

Our tools we use to wrench on our whips deserve more than cheap garbage off the Ho Chi Minh Trail.

I can’t believe these stores are as popular as they are.

Snap On for me. They are transparent about where things are made. Most made in US.

There you go with that made in the USA tag line, yet you import as your primary means of income.

Harbor Freight is good for tools to keep in each car, tools you don't mind loaning out or tools that will get very occasional use. Their tool bags and fake pelican cases are actually excellent.
Snap on ratchets ain't what they use to be, mine broke from being dropped 3 feet.

If I need good tools I buy Stahlwille now.

I buy a lot of Williams mechanics hand tools (Snap On brand owner), Proto, S-K...there are still a few decent tool companies out there. A lot of the Kobalt tools are decent too..
I like the Kobalts too. I really like the satin finish on the Stahlwille, it makes them less slippery while not hard on the skin.

The old days, Craftsman was a good line..
I think HF is okay for a gadget tool, something you may use 3-4 times and ditch it or give it to a 9-10 year old kids...
Milwaukee Falls Saws at one time were the best, but cheepass saws are cheep...and who uses a handsaw anymore anyway.

And, I guess way back when, some horsewhip company was the best.... time keeps on slippin, into the future.
I have two Diston saws I still use. I have to get them sharpened and set some day.

Sneakers

Just sneakin' around....
I'm still using most of the tools I bought back in the early 70s, Craftsman, when the name Craftsman meant quality and durability. I've beat the snot out of some of those wrenches.

If I need a tool today, I get whatever fits the bill for short term.

Yes, we could have guessed you preferred strap-on.

Let me guess, the bud issue hasn't affected you because you and everyone you know only drink coffee infused micro-brewed IPAs made from personally curated GMO-Free hops brewed over a fortnight in a closed down 50's movie theater located on the south side of Portland's chin-strap district.

Or Stella if god forbid the establishment doesn't have that.

I have found good quality German and US made tools at Harbor Freight, on occasion.
