Has anyone tried The Melting Pot? I want to but I am not sure if I would like it. They seem kinda on the pricey side and I don't want to pay that price for something I don't eat.

It isn't difficult to get a reservation at all. Never has been for me. We like going there, it's always a pretty good time, and it may be a little more than we pay for dinner out on a usuall basis, however, when you take your time to enjoy a dinner in this manner, It's time & money well spent.

The Melting Pot In Annapolis is not as good quality as the Melting Pot is, In Nashville, Tn.

Try buying a home fondue? There are electric fondue sets as well as ones that use other sources of heat. By purchasing a home fondue, after time, you'll find it's not so expensive to have dinner by fondue.
Home version of fondue Is fun, a great time, and yummy.

Also... if you go to the website, you can sign up for birthday club & they give a schedule for certain "nights out", with discounted prices for dinner/fondue that doesn't cost as much, nor takes so long.

LOVE The Melting Pot. They give you lots of food and two people can easily share their meals. I always cringe at the bill though.

The Melting Pot is better the smaller the group. It's really best as an intimate dinner-for-two place. The logistics of a large group all sharing the same food and reaching over each other sucks all the fun out of it.

Well I took hubby there for his birthday a few years ago before he was even my hubby and we had a blast. We went with another couple and of course my husband ordered a bottle of Dom and as if the waiter was not tripping all over himslef after that we got another so before we even ate we had a $600.00 bar tab! After we closed that out we odered appetizers which consisted of bread cubes, chips and pretzels for the cheese fondue, then we had lobster, shrimp, chicken and steak for the main entree but the dessert was the best..banannas, pound cake & Strawberries to dip in chocolate. We were pretty smashed and I got sick on the way home because I think my hubby was not paying attention and did not cook some of my meat long enough but it was fun. Something that we have not done since here in the states anyway but it was fun and the can do extra fun stuff for bithdays and such. I would recommend no more then 4 peopel in a group because the tables only have one burner for you to cook on so if you do not like the same things then you will not enjoy it as much.

true, but why not just by some gormet food to cook at home? lobster, shrimp, and a salad could make a good dinner...then you can buy dang store-made cake for dinner lol.

I loved it, but it is true that the table was a bit crowded with plates, bowls and pots with 5 people. Food was awesome and service good, though.

Be prepared to spend some $.

What love is all about
Well I wouldn't be worried about the table being crowed because I want it to be just my hubby and I. I have looked at the menu some and I think it would be really just something different to try. Even if you have to cook your own food. We get tired of eating at the same place all the time.

For your purposes, i'd actually see it as a good idea. It could be a nice romantic place for two if you do it right, but I'd probably never take any sizable group there lol

good food. dim lighting, good atmosphere. a little pricey like everyone said, but since it takes about twice as long as a regular meal, you should probably pay twice as much?? i dunno. the place has to charge a lot b/c they dont get as many customers as other restaurants, i'm guessing. i havent been in a couple years but i enjoy it.

it's just the experience of the outing; i like to go out every know and then and don't mind the cost if it's what i like and what i want.

JMO--i think some people are too cheap at times. enjoy life and try some things that you probably wouldn't do all the time; you sure can't take it with you.

can't remember exactly but i do recall some items being available separate, whereas, me & hubby had the 5-course selection(?), and it was way too much food for us. had no idea what we were in for.

would definitely do it again but would order something smaller

If it's anything like the one in Minnesota and it's nothing but a big fondue restaurant, it's worth the wait and the pricing... it's absolutely amazingly delectible.

I'm going for my birthday in 2 weeks! I can let you know after that! :) My brother and his wife have been several times and rave about the place, but it is pricey....from what I hear it's worth it though.
