Been to Tortola and Antigua, but that was back in the early 70s. At that time, Antigua was a shist hole. If you ventured off the grounds of the resort, you were pretty much in danger of being accosted. It was expensive, and not much to do back then. No clue what it's like now.

Tortola was a fun place for college students. Stayed in Road Town for 2 weeks for a 4-credit underwater photo course. Some of the best diving I had ever seen, 200 foot lateral visibility at 60 foot depth. We dove on the wreck of the Rhone off Salt Island, that's where 'The Deep' was filmed, 80 to 120'. There was a beach bar on the opposite side of the island, it's name eludes me right now. Great place to kick back and watch the sunset. Great sailing too.

St Maarten & St Thomas are beautiful. San Juan meh I got off the boat for a bit then went back. Wasn't impressed.

We booked day passes at resorts in St Maarten & St Thomas. They provide towels, loungers w/ umbrella, access to their private beach as well as the resort itself.

If you haven't already you should join cruise critic. Lots of great info on the cruise line itself but also on the ports of call.

St. Thomas and St. Maarten. Beautiful beaches. On the St. Maarten beach, there is a beach bar that flys a Maryland flag. Owned by a guy who lives in Baltimore part-time and was stationed at Pax River. Enjoy!!

I used San Juan as a departure port, flew in then spent a week touring so I had more options then a port call. I would highly recommend a kayak tour of one of the bio bays. I selected Laguna Grande in Fajardo, you need to go at night to appreciate the bioluminescent. This was my favorite, even though it is commercialized now. It’s still wonderful to experience and best to schedule without a full moon. I selected tour guide Enchanted Island Eco tours and can recommend them. This is from memory, the other ports I would have to think about recommendations.

You gotta go to Maho Beach in St. Maarten to watch the planes take off and land.
In Dominica, try swimming the Ti Tou Gorge and walk the rocks at Trafalgar Falls.
Outside of San Juan at the La Marquesa Forest Reserve, give the zip lining a try!

At that time, Antigua was a shist hole.

I was in Antigua in the 70s. I remember one town having one well in the center. It was my first experience of the 3rd world. My hired driver took me on a Dukes of Hazzard style drive on the dirt roads playing chicken with the other drivers. I seriously thought I was going to die that day.

I just got back. Had nice weather each day. 1 cruise ship that left a few days after us had to return to port after enduring 10 hours in storm conditions. Our Puerto Rico stop was cancelled due to a medical emergency. We detoured closer to the NC coastline so the coast guard help could medivac a sick passenger. The time going in cost us about 4 hours each way so they just canxed the port call.

The first 3 ports were nice. St. Martin was probably my favorite followed by Tortola. The larger populated islands had a grittier feel to them.

I saw 4 planes land at Maho Beach. Nothing came really close to the end of the runway.

It was quite a shock to the system pulling into NYC and feeling 8 degree temps.

Some more pics. The water is an incredible turquoise blue. The pictures don't do the water justice as it was very hazy.
