It never ceases to amaze me how often our 'creative' arts, TV, movies, music, are all about copying something else rather than taking a chance, doing something new and being the first whatever instead of the next repeat.
I'm surprised you are not looking at it from the business side.
Plenty of new shows air each year. Most don't survive to fill an entire season, or move on to season 2. That makes for a bit of a waste in development and production costs. Recycling shows, on the other hand, can make for a good investment because the network executives know they are banking on something people already like.
At least, that's the idea.
Surely, a good percentage of remakes fail because they can't capture the charm, goofiness, etc. of the original.
Now, enough with the chatter. Where are the hula girls?
