Hawaii 5-0

Have you seen the trailers on TV? Hawaii 5-0 being aired in the fall on CBS. Can't say I like the new characters. And Kono is now a woman.

I'll give it a whirl and see if I like it.....

One of the best TV show opening themes ever

Since I vaguely recall watching re-runs a time or two and the ONLY thing I clearly remember is the theme music in the intro, I get to look at it as NOT a remake of a classic. :yahoo:

The ONLY thing people will watch this for is the now famous line....

Say it with me....

So, I went to google this show, and got a shock. Who, without googling, can tell me how long this show aired? I was surprised as hell myself.

I'm thinking 10 years, maybe a little longer? I grew up with it, watched I think every episode at least twice :)

It never ceases to amaze me how often our 'creative' arts, TV, movies, music, are all about copying something else rather than taking a chance, doing something new and being the first whatever instead of the next repeat.

Cable TV held out the promise of all sorts of novel, interesting and wildly different content and yet, most of it is variation on the theme of the day.

I'm surprised you are not looking at it from the business side.

Plenty of new shows air each year. Most don't survive to fill an entire season, or move on to season 2. That makes for a bit of a waste in development and production costs. Recycling shows, on the other hand, can make for a good investment because the network executives know they are banking on something people already like.

At least, that's the idea. Surely, a good percentage of remakes fail because they can't capture the charm, goofiness, etc. of the original.

Now, enough with the chatter. Where are the hula girls?
