Going to Hawaii in a few months. Any must sees?

There are alot of islands in the state of Hawaii, which one(s) will you be visiting?
On the big island I would definetly do Volcano national park and the Mauna Kea observatories. Also do a circuit drive around the island, many beautiful spots to see. If you are a diver, do the Kona manta ray night dive, it is spectacular!

Which island are you going to?
Which Island?

Maui and Kauai

Plenty of must sees but fly first class if you can. It's a long azzed flight in coach

Only way I fly :buddies:

I've done the toilet bowl before but never fed the fish frozen peas. Great idea thanks!

Pearl Harbor:patriot:

I visited that last time and it is a must visit. The feeling that comes over you when you're there is indescribable.

Last visit I went to Oahu and Hawaii (big island) and the circuit drive was great. We did a few of the walks to water falls and had a blast.

Maui and Kauai

On Kauai (haven't been to Maui yet), make sure you go to Waimea Canyon and do a tour of the Na' Pali coast (it is breathtaking). You can only see this coastline by helicopter or boat... we went by boat and also got a great look at a bunch of spinner dolphins and a beautiful sunset.

We went to the town of Hanalei to see the beach there. This is supposedly where the inspiration for "Puff, the Magic Dragon" came from. Regardless, the beach is beautiful and it's a quaint little town.

Poipu Beach -- we stayed at a resort just across the street from this beach. It is supposed to have some of the best snorkeling on the island. I will say that it was great. However, the beach is pretty small, but if you're there for the snorkeling, that's not really an issue.

While you are at Poipu Beach (if you are not staying on this part of the island), drive about 10mins away and see Spouting Horn. It's a pretty cool site. You won't stay too long, but it's worth a few cool pics.

Also, go see Wailua Falls. This is the waterfall that was on the opening credits of "Fantasy Island" (if you are old enough to remember that TV show). Just a bit of pop culture for you. And it is a very easily accessible and beautiful waterfall, too.

Oh, one more note, most everything on Kauai closes down early. We would be heading out for a late dinner (around 8pm) and have a hard time finding somewhere that was not closed or getting ready to close. I guess it really is the "quiet island". Just an FYI. It is, by far, the most beautiful one that we have been to.

All this reminiscing is making me want to go back. Have a great time! Post some pics when you get back.

Just what I was looking for thank you!

After mentioning this thread to hubby, he reminded me of a couple of things:

As you drive along some back roads, look out for roosters. Seriously, they were everywhere. I especially remember them at Waimea Canyon. It was the strangest thing.

Also, although this doesn't help you on this trip, when we went to O'ahu the first time, we purchased a TourTalk tape (yes, it was on cassette at the time) that you played in your car and did a self-tour of the island. It was great because you could skip certain sites if they didn't interest you or you didn't have time, spend longer at certain sites if you wanted or bug out if you thought it was very boring. Not having to stick with a group was great, but it gave good directions in a circle around the island along with very interesting information along the way. I do see that it's available on CD now : TourTalk - Hawai`I's Complete Driving Adventure This company didn't have one for Kauai, but maybe someone does? It's definitely a cool idea, I would think they would do them for all the islands.
