I almost peed in my pants until I remembered that you don't live in Maryland. I thought "Well damn, if it's hitting Maryland tomorrow I might want to get the crap out of NC".ememdee19 said:Nope. They announced it not too long ago. They were already opening up shelters at 3:00 here.

Hey, I didn't know she wasn't here. I was about to sound off...Nickel said:I almost peed in my pants until I remembered that you don't live in Maryland. I thought "Well damn, if it's hitting Maryland tomorrow I might want to get the crap out of NC".
None at all. In fact, we have thunderstorms (storming right now) on tap for the next ten days or so, but no mention of any out of the norm storms. Last I heard it had been downgraded to a tropical depression, so I imagine by the time it reaches me it'll just be a regular storm. If you look at this map, it looks like it's going to miss us entirely.ememdee19 said:
Any cancellations, closings, etc. up your way, Nickel? I find it pretty ridiculous since I haven't seen a drop of rain...yet.

We have a river running through our town, and if it so much as rains for more than a few hours, the other side of town gets flooded.ememdee19 said:If they so much as even think of rain, they're flooded up to their knees!

Where are ya Em??
One of my first memories is when I was 3 or 4 years old. We were living in Guam, and a typhoon came through. My dad ran outside to secure the storm shutters on the house, and my mom started flipping out. I was afraid he was going to blow away.ememdee19 said:If it got that serious I'm sure my trusty ole hurricane shutters would protect us!

Absolutely! We went to look at a house over there once after a very mild storm, and luckily had our XTerra and were able to drive through it. We still had to go around a lot of streets (too deep even for the jacked up SUV ), there's no way we could live over there. D's commuter car is a Civic, he'd have to put it on a raft to get out of town.ememdee19 said:It's ridiculous, isn't it? I've never seen anything like it, though. It floods terribly here.

Too bad they aren't sending out the Coasties.Governor Easley is activating National Guard troops and the State Emergency Response Team in advance of possible flooding and power outages associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Ernesto.

We live like, three minutes from the CG base, so D and I use their gym sometimes. I was driving through our mall parking lot and there were about 60 of them boarding a couple of Coach buses.ememdee19 said:No kidding! A few weeks ago my friend and I went to an outdoor restaurant and about 4 of them docked to get a bite to eat. Talk about Something about the uniform and all that heavy gear...
