LEONARDTOWN, MD (February 28, 2024) – St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) Director of Clinical Services and Nursing Director, Lisa Nelson, has been selected to join the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Informatics Champions Initiative (ICI) Group.
The ICI Group exchanges learning about public health informatics-related initiatives, such as Data Modernization and the Technical Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). ICI Group members provide local perspectives to conversations at the federal level regarding public health data modernization.
“I am honored to be selected to join NACCHO’s Informatics Champions group,” said Lisa Nelson, SMCHD Director of Clinical Services and Nursing Director. “I look forward to learning more about data modernization initiatives and working to provide a local perspective to public health informatics.”
“With her clinical knowledge as a nurse and her frontline leadership experience in local public health, Lisa Nelson will be exceptionally valuable to NACCHO’s work towards modernizing public health data and informatics,” said Dr. Meena Brewster, St. Mary’s County Health Officer. “As national efforts in this area evolve, it is essential to include local perspectives, including those from rural America.”
