Healthometer Car Seat Warmer Fire Risk

I was sitting on my seat warmer for approximately 25 minutes, and I am a small person, but I almost had a fire under my butt!

When I put the car in park I smelled something burning so I got up to find my car seat scorched by one of the heating parts in the seat pad. The spot burned my finger when I touched it so I poured water on the spot to be safe.

I'm sure some of you funny forumites with have a good laugh, but that's ok if we can get the word out about these dangerous seat warmers.

I will report this to the company, and I am interested to hear if this has happened to others. I bet this thing was made in China! Cheap piece of crap.

I was given one as a present many years ago. Used it once, tossed it because I was afraid it would short.

Is this one of those things you plug into a cigarette lighter?

Yes. I will never again trust them. I am going to take a picture of ny scorched seat and file a claim with the company. I haven't checked the back of my light gray wool slacks, but can only hope there is no damage because I love these slacks.

Many people buy those as gifts over the holidays. Bad choice.

Are you sure it was the seat that burned or the phone book you sit on to see over the steering wheel? :coffee:

Actually I am so glad that I put my booster seat cushion on TOP of the car seat warmer, that saved my nice slacks from a scorch - the booster cushion got the scorch mark. I still also have a good sized scorch mark on my light gray cloth interior. I want the company to pay to replace the seat upholstery because it looked NEW and now has a scorch mark.
