I doubt if there are any people with dual citizenship from the U.S. and an African nation or anybody that has ever been to africa on here.
So that would be a no.

I'll have to check the laws again. I don't recall whether or not I was stripped of that status when my father was naturalized. I believe so, but I'm not entirely sure.

The US does not recognize dual citizenship, you're either a US citizen or a citizen from another country. However there are many foreign countries who recognize dual citizenship.

Example: Countries usually frame their citizenship laws with little or no regard for the citizenship laws of other countries. In my son's case, for instance, the US does not care that Canada thinks he is a Canadian citizen, and Canada does not care that the US thinks he is a US citizen.

In some (but, please note, not all) cases, a country may seek to restrict dual citizenship by requiring one of its citizens born with some other citizenship to renounce (give up) the other citizenship upon reaching adulthood. Similarly, newly naturalized citizens in some (but not all) countries are required to renounce their previous citizenship(s); the US has such a requirement, for example, but Canada does not. And in some (but, again, not all) cases, a country will automatically revoke the citizenship of one of its citizens who acquires another country's citizenship by naturalization, even if no explicit renunciation was involved.

Thanks for the reminder. I remember reading that before. I got the "dual" part mixed up with Morocco's laws; so, its there's that I'd have to double check.

I knew it was one or the other that recognized it, but I still don't recall if they go by birth, or when your status the day that you become an adult.

The laws are complex (not that it should surprise you) however I remember recently they changed the immigration laws so that babies born to non US citizens, illegals, etc. NO longer become automatic US citizens. :coffee:

This thread title will make more sense once Virginia agrees to say it has "deep regret" over the fact that they participated in slavery.

WTH is this world coming to? Do I need to mention that Jesse Jackson came on board with this campaign at the last minute (at least that's what I heard)?

Kudos to Rep. Hargrove who stood up and said that no one in the chambers had anything to do with slavery and chances are none of their relatives did either. They slammed him to the ground!!!

This whole thing is just getting way too ridiculous.

My first post & already your trying to lead me down a fantasy path of make-believe..

I found the reported sighting of a white human quite interesting.. It's becoming a rare event..

What confuses me is the pale-gum was not practicing self-preservaton-- free-ranging alone like that..
