I am new to posting on this sight but have been in the area for a little while. I an in need of a father friendly divorce lawyer that is hard nosed and about action and not just making money. I want to protect myself and my son with out getting screwed over by my soon to be ex. Can anyone give me some GOOD advice on where to go?

Doesn't matter. Maryland is a 50/50 marital property state. Child custody is a different story. If you are retired military, get ready to give up some of it.

I guess I got took by APS but anyway I am not retired I am active duty so like I said I just want to protect myself. I have no real assets of great value so there isn't much to split at this point. Are there any reputable attorneys that someone can reccomend though or at least is there any advice someone may have for me.

I used Mike Davis from Leonardtown a number of years ago. Got custody of the kids and she got nothing of my future retirement. 301-475-3131

Nope wasn't military at that time, a GS. Since you are military don't they have a legal department that could give you advice and maybe local contacts for those in the know?

May I say... You picked her. Now be a good boy and split the lawn furniture in the livingroom 50/50.

Yeah they do but unfortunately they are not interested in protecting you they want to stay above the table on everything and will push to award at the highest levels the state allows. I've seen some other service members crushed by using base legal so I am leary at best about approaching them for help.

But they are free, get their advice and if you don't like it seek elsewhere. Not knowing your circumstances you might be in a better position then you think.

Do what you have to do, there are plenty of lawyers out there to chose from. Explain your situation, what you want the outcome to be and ask if they can get it for you.

As a active duty service member the first place I would go is to legal on base. They probably can't help you with the divorce itself, but I'm sure they could give you a good start. And-- It's one of your 'benefits'.:peace:

Not to mention FREE.
