The Ratard got skunked last night late. What is the best way to get rid of the stink.

I used Dove soap and that seemed to help some.

in vermont people use tomato juice they say it works like a charm....might want to try it...something about the acid neutralizes the smell....

I know it's a little late but this might help someone in the future. Mine got skunked last winter. I used Dawn dish liquid to cut the oil base. I then mixed distilled white vinegar and baking soda VERY CAREFULLY and put it on my dog, head to toe. Then followed up with his regular doggie shampoo. Not only did the smell completely go away, his coat was shiney and very white! Worked great.

I'm a dumb ass boxer. I stink again. :jameo:

Didn't read the entire tread....so, if this has been posted :1bdz:

When mine got hit full force by a skunk, I used dawn dish soap, bake soda and a full bottle(8oz) of peroxide mixed together....bathed the girls in that(letting the mixture sit on their coats for a couple of minutes) and then washed them in their regular shampoo....no more smell

I'm really suprised that the skunk didn't find a new home after the first encounter....once they find out that their is a "threat" to their winter home they usually find another one

It's my trash out back. I need to go to the dump. I did see the skunk dead on Clover Hill this afternoon.

Gawd I don't feel like driving anywhere so I am going to try the peroxide and baking soda and see if this will work. She is only 9 1/2 lbs but OMG.... she smells horrible and she got it on my clothes.
