This is for real, I called and spoke with Jamie Hampton. It's sad when someone gets sick, dies, but, it is always worse when it is a child.

I called Jamie and she asked me to post the following:

My name is Jamie Hampton, I started the e-mail to help Claire Alvey who I know as well as her family. First I would like to say I am shocked by some of the things I have read. Yes!! Claire is a real live beautiful little girl that is going to lose her battle with cancer. I am sorry that some of you on here see my reaching out and trying to help as a scam!! If you take the time to actually read the e-mail you will see that both my business number and cell phone number are on there as well as my business name and address. I don’t believe that if this was a scam I would ask for checks made payable to Clair or put my business in jeopardy by using my business name. If none of that makes you believe me contact Charles County Hospice. I am not trying to extort money from anyone or scam anyone, I am just trying to help. If you don’t believe it, don’t send money simple as that. Call me or stop by my office, I am not hiding anything and would be happy to talk to you. All of my information is there in black and white if you take the time to read it. It totally disheartens me that so many have been jaded by our jealous greedy society that in a time of need people feel the need to belittle the ones trying to help. I hope everyone that reads this thinks about how you would feel if your son or daughter was dying, or someone close to you. What if you needed help, what would you do?

I am glad that it is not a scam. It is wonderful that this girl's family has people helping them. So, much kudos to Jamie and all those that are sending in money.
I only asked because I have now gotten the email twice and received it on a Myspace bulletin. I have gotten involved in these scams before. I have been screwed twice with the Make A Wish scams.
I know a single mom that was getting ready to send a check for this family. I had to ask first. She does not have much money to spare if any.

Yes socki, it is good to know that it is not a scam. It is always good to check first. I don't think anyone did anything wrong by asking questions. You have to be careful when you receive an e-mail asking for money. I think the PO Box is what concerned everyone.

It's good to know there are people out there that step up to help others. Kudo's to the lady that set it all up. Prays for the child and the family.
