the only effin 2 problems I have had in the last 8 years of owning my house, was the damn oil delivery person. (knock on wood now) A couple years ago they left the gate open but no one escaped, we fortunately saw it first.
Then 2 months ago they did it again. Hubby came home from work and let the dogs out, 2 of them stayed in the yard but 3 went out across the road to the neighbors. Rojo came back to sit on the front step to get back in, Bump went chasing the neighbors cat and sat on their front porch, and Havoc didn't kown what to do and ran back to Hubby when called.
Hubby called and cussed out the oil company and the receptionist said they had a dog order on our file. It's not like they wouldn't hear 5 dogs barking while they were filing up the tank. Heck, we have the UPS, FEDEX, and Local USPS leave dog buiscuts on the porch when they deliver.
Now I will probably have an inadvertant fence break and have to eat my words...

what i need is a
. And then train doggy not to be so damn excited when people come over and bite them instead.
So go to Lowes and get a spring to close the gate... that way, they can't leave it open.
I'm not a carpenter, but that I could do for you... it's easy!! And the spring's tension will make it tougher for doggy to go wander even if it doesn't latch...
Our GSD did this when he was a pup. We grabbed him by his lower jaw, placed out thumb on his tongue and and gave him a firm no and told him to give kisses. When he gave kisses we loved him up with some super special belly rubs. It took us a couple of weeks of consistent work to succeed, but he never bit us or company again. They got kisses and a firm "request" for a belly rub.
