Actually you can come and take it for a spin. .I can lower the seat for you to see how you like the fit.

It's an 1150, brakes are touchy, other then that, very fun bike to ride and VERY comfortable. Good thing is you don't HAVE to use the back brake, front brake grabs both the front and back.
I'll maybe pm you in the early afternoon and maybe we'll come down on our bikes. Hubby has been there this week so knows where it is. I hate a friggin back brake. I have to try to remember to use it.

You don't have problems with dents when I drop it, do you?

I'll even let ya try the Modular CAberg Helmet.. and you can listen to XM while you are tooling around.
Trying to convert her? :lmao:

I won't let you ride my Road King even though my brakes aren't touchy, my seat is low enough and if you want back brake you actually have to hit it and I also have XM

I'll take the boxes off of it.. as long as by "drop" you mean.. "I forgot to put my foot down and laid it on it's side", that won't hurt it at all. Then I can teach you how to pick up a heavy bike.

If nothing else the three of us can get away for a ride.

Naah, but she should ride as many bikes as she can before they shells out money for one.

Sucks to pay $$$ for a bike then on the way home you decide you don't like it, it doesn't ride well, it's a bad fit etc..

I think the new BMW 800 series would be a perfect size, but we still have a few months before they make it to the US.. and again, ride it, see if it "talks" to you!

What the hell is a box? I mean, drop it, by killing it after I put my feet up. If you put the back foot pegs down, it will land nicely on that and my ankle, thereby preventing damage to the tank.

We could just go for a little ride, too. You all have to stay behind me. You may want to stay waaaaaaaaaay behind me because of my inability to get up to speed very quickly.

Night all. I'm off to bed. I have to get LOTS of sleep so I have the strength to wreck itsbob's bike tomorrow. :huggy:

You can't get stuck under my bike.. boxes are the luggage or side cases..

I have two HUGE cylinders sticking out the sides.. the bike goes down you will NOT get caught underneath it.

Shoot, mine has XM, FM, AM, weather channel 6 disc CD changer in helmet mics and speakers, hook up for the PDA, heated seats, heated grips, cruise and...it will adjust the speaker volume as you scream across the wide open spaces out west!!

If you are looking for a first bike, the BMW 650 is a good bet as is most any twin that isnt overly torquey or horsepowered. You want a nicely balanced forgiving ride that allows you to stand upon the ground flat footed. My return to motorcycling bike was an Intruder 1500. It was low, heavy and not overly fast (in the crotch rocket sense). It has since seen two other owners that were new to motorcycling and they both commented that it was very ....forgiving of rookie mistakes.

As Bob said, ride as many as you can until you find that one that "fits". It needs to be comfortable and user friendly. I started in 1976 straddling a Suzuki GT550 two stroke triple with a seat that wasnt much more than a piece of plywood covered with Naugahyde. Rides were limited to short jaunts never in excess of 200 miles in a day. The rides are longer now, but the twinkle in the eye is still there!!

Get a copy of David Houghs..Street Smarts, or whatever the heck the name of it is. You can learn a lot from the comfort of your home, avoiding the school of hard knocks lessons learned on the streets.

I really wish you guys wouldn't encourage her. :smack: She's a demon with 4 wheels and you guys want her to go faster on 2? Man, you just don't know her like I do. Talk her into keeping what she's got for a while, please! For everybody's sake! :jameo:

I would say an 1100 would be too much bike for you right now. I'm going to recommend a middleweight...something between 50-70 HP and same or less than torque.

BS I don't usually do this. I mean I offer ride but I don't usually let someone ride my bike. However since you are looking to ride as many as possible and I think my vulcan has made an excelent first road bike. If you would like to test ride it its cool. And you don't need to worry about dropping it. I've already done that once. :lmao:

We should all just meet here, and let her take them out one at a time.

Of course he didn't mention he's 6'3" tall and made that little 550 look like a mini bike!

We did get out today and just went to Clarke's Landing for lunch. It was really hot out. My bike was running fine, but, damn, it's hard to get it up to speed. I think I agree with Badgirl. Everyone show up at your house and I'll try them all out. I've 5'3".

Oh, no you didn't. Once we went to Clarke's Landing, I was gonna PM you and say it was too friggin hot to ride down there, but hubby had the computer tied up all day with some friggin game. When's the next party? Or we could have it here.

Actually not a bad idea.. a bike day at bob's.. I have AC in my garage now.. so won't be sooo bad.. and anyone willing can let you take their bikes out.

I'm going to Philomont next week-end if you are interested in a ride.
