Hickory Hills East

Hickory Hills East is the worst apartment complex I have lived in. The office staff there is of course very pleasant when you are looking at the apartments before moving in but after that they are all very nasty. I just love how they advertise a "bark-park" for your furry friends but I can tell you that the horrible 13 months I lived in this apartment complex I didnt take my dogs to this so called park. It is over-run with poison ivy, it is fenced with chicken wire that is wrapped up in many places so it would easily poke/scratch your beloved dog and there is an old rusted metal fire pit just chillen in the park. Absolutely ridiculous that they even advertise this as a "perk" to living at Hickory Hills East. What about their awesome "state-of-the-art" (their words, not mine) fitness equipment in their fitness center????HAHA, are you freaking kissing me, yes it may of been state-of-the-art 15 years ago but now it is just old broken down equipment that they dont even maintain properly. They do provide doggie doo stations but it is very disgusting that they do not even clean them out regularly and if you complain they dont care. They are overflowing with used poop bags and think it is acceptable. The washer and Dryer in my unit was as old if not older than the fitness equipment and when one needs to be replaced they simple get a "refurbished" one off of e-bay that is the same model and just as old. This place is an absolute joke. Oh and most of you will love this kicker, I had to call the maintenance man at about 1130 pm one night because my door lock wasnt working properly. Well you see they use electronic locks that your key is programmed to open, well my neighbor (after I asked her to) used her key to open my front door. What they neglect to tell you and refuse to do anything about, is that if the battery in the door unit dies than any electronic key that is that shape can now open your door and have access to your home. So lets think about this, lets just say that there are 100 apartments in this complex I can pretty much guarantee that at least one and probably more locks have a dead battery in it. So that means all it takes for someone to break into another persons house is for them to simply use an electronic key (whether programmed for nothing at all or their own apartment) and try it out in your door while you are not there....hmmmm such a wonderful place to live

I lived there. I liked it. The battery died in my lock once..and NO key could open it..it was dead..so I don't see how someone elses could open it..if no key works  Can't beat it for the price. If I wanted a fancy gym and a cushioned and padded dog run..I could have got it for about 300-400 more a month.

Not sure how long ago you lived there or what made you like this place but everyone is entitled to their opinions. Maybe you just assumed the key wasnt working and no keys would work because when the battery dies you dont get the little light flash so you know that you can turn your key, and it is a little bit harder to turn when the battery is dead but still very easy. If anyone who lives there would like to test this, it is easy just unscrew the bottom part of the unit on the inside and take the battery out, then lock your door and try the key, or a neighbors key if you want.
As far as beating it for the price, well I have to disagree again because I think my new apartment is soo much nicer and the staff is soo much nicer and the complex is just better taken care of and a lot cleaner than Hickory Hills East. As far as a "padded dog run" Hickory Hills East doesnt even have a dog run anymore they have a bark park and it isnt about it being padded, it is about it being safe. And once again I am paying about the same in rent yet my dogs now have a very well taken care of CLEAN dog park to play and run in. Hmmmm....like I said though these are just my opinions of the place

 Why didn't you just change the battery?
