High Speed Internet Options Available

Am I correct to assume the only high speed internet options we have are Verizon, Comcast (or other cable provider), or Satellite (rural use mostly)?

Does internet HAVE to cost us approximately $100 a household a month? I recall when it was like $40 a month - what happened?

It depends on where in SoMD you live.

I pay $48.95 per month + tax for internet with Metrocast in St. Mary's County. I own my own cable modem so no need for that rental fee. The only reason I pay that much is for the faster download speeds. I don't subscribe to cable or satellite so I watch all my TV through Netflix, Hulu, and Youtube.

I can't speak for Satellite options but I had Verizon for several years but got fed up with there poor service. I've had Metrocast for the last six years and have been happy ever since.

I'm in Southern P G County near the Charles County Line. Here we have FIOS and Comcast available. I'll go check the current a-la-cart prices but last I checked it was around $100-$120 a month for internet only.

Trying to get a price on the Verizon site for just internet is next to impossible - all they want to show prices for are bundles. I did find 1 site that listed a price of $55.99 for the mid level speeds. Of course that's without equipment charges and other fees. So I'm betting the bill would be darn close to $90 a month.

Verizon 69.99 a month for internet and phone with unlimited long distance.

I have Comcast, 49.99. They also have other options. I have never had a problem with the internet they deliver.
