Hit and Miss Engine

Anybody know of one for sale locally? Thinking of getting one for my father as a birthday present. Doesn't even have to be running, just restorable.

What is it?
old engines. originally steam powered. used in maytag washing machines in the 20's. If you have ever gone to a farm show, you've seen them. They sound like this...chugga chugga chugga bang chugga chugga chugga bang chugga chugga chugga bang... Then engine only fires on every 4th (I believe) stoke, and spins a big flywheel.
Here's one on eBay Here's another.

Oil industry was a HUGE user, powered their pumps.. but I think I've seen them referred to as "Single Lungers"?? Look up in the area of NW PA, HUGE collections of them up there, and probably a club or two that can point you in the right direction.

AHhhh...yea, I've seen those. There's a boatload of them in NE Pa also. They're at all the county fairs up there, which should be coming up here pretty soon.

My dad loves them, and I thought it'd be a cool gift (assuming I could find one in my price range). I'd really like to get one of the larger ones, that operate at much lower RPM, with the really big flywheels, like the one in the first link.
