Home Daycares

Does anybody know where I can get a list of local home daycares? I've always had my 2 year old daughter in a center or had a family member watch her. However with the new baby on the way there is no way that I can afford over $2400 a month for 2 kids in a daycare center and my family member can't watch the baby. I am scared about taking my kids to somebody that I don't really know but I don't have a choice at this point.

Southern Maryland Child Care Resource Center in Charlotte Hall. They are online too. Do a search on the forums and you'll find a link. Do a search in Google and you should find it.

Where are you looking for care (as in where do you live)?

There's alot of daycare in Lexington Park area. Huntr1 gave you good solid information. You can call that number to get full list of licensed daycares in your area. :yay:

The website I ref. above is easier than calling. Its the same info.

Actually, I found out that not all licensed daycare providers signed permission form to have thier information on the website. That's why I recommended calling to get full list of licensed providers.

2400 a month? OMG! I have two kids at Starmaker and I pay $1350.00 a month. You might want to look around more.

Yeah. I have 2 toddlers and an infant and was quoted less than that there. Most daycare centers charge $250 for an infant. Even if she had 2 infants in a center that would only equate to $2000 and that's doubtful as most places give a sibling discount.

But wait, there's more...
Seeing the cost of daycare today is just one more reason that reaffirms my decision to have my tubes tied. :faint:

I stayed home with DQ until she was 14 months, then went back to work. Daycare for her then was about $130/week (9 years ago). I can't imagine having a monthly daycare payment larger than my mortgage! :shocking:

I was just thinking about little Miss K today. How is she doing?

Actually, the search engine for the website has a number of bugs. It's an ok starting point and good when searching after hours, but it has issues.

Actually, the permission for having the info online is the same permission for having the info available via phone. However the advantage to calling over the website is that they can search on more than just address...in fact, they most commonly search by school district, but they can also look for things like pets.
