Home Schooling

GM joke of a school

PCJOHHNY>>But are these opportunities really comparable to "random social interaction"? The kids going to these things are usually all homeschooled right? This just means that they are all at least fairly similar to each other. That isn't real social interaction, that is like talking to the mirror. Real social experience comes from confronting problems because you are different or your view differs from someone else. All the situation you described encourages is running away from your problems (kid couldn't handle school, kid leaves school to get away from the problem, not solve it).>>>>

I guess real social interaction is mixing you kids in with a bunch of future felons who want to be gangsta's. Not to mention the complete screwed up social engineering that goes on in most schools. So socializing kids is overrated unless of couse the kids they are with are respectful and AT least have a framework for education the really tries to educate. Most PubliK SKOOLS are done in this country. They stopped real education at probably 2 decades ago and now all we are left with are buildings and PC administrationts, who let the thugs rule and kids who really want to learn never reaching their potential.......Give home schooling a try....It CANT get worse than Great Mills HS. If you dont believe me check with the police officer who has to be there during business hours. (The administration does not really want him to mess with the kids BTW....Just pretend like you will)

pcjohnnyb I have to disagree with you. I homeschool three of my four children and they get a great education and I probably push them harder than any teacher out there who has to deal with a classroom of kids. Your situation may have been different considering you were home because you were sick and may not have had all the opportunities that regular homeschool children have. My kids socialize with a vast array of people. Not only children their own age but adults also. I would challenge you to find public school children who are comfortable talking with adults.

And for those of you out there that think a parent isn't qualified to teach their own child should look a little more closely at the public school teachers. I wonder how many of them get tested on their knowledge of subjects after they get out of college and get a teaching job. Who is going to take a more vested interest in your childs education you or some stranger. People who chose to homeschool are usually the most dedicated people.

Finally, I will admit that homeschooling is not for everyone. It takes alot of dedication and time and you lose a lot of time to yourself but the rewards are worth it and in the end you will know that your child has received the best education.

talking to or respecting? :lmao: There are a lot that are comfortable talking to adults, finding respectful kids is another thing entirely lol.

I'd have to agree that the parents of homeschooled kids are greatly dedicated, but they also aren't usually more qualified than a teacher (but like you said, homeschooling isn't for everyone...there ARE some of those parents that are more qualified at least in some field than the teacher). The advantage of having the kid go to school is that the kid gets their subjects from different teachers who specialize in that subject. everyone has weak points and it isn't really fair to teach a kid math, english, and science when you failed biology and chemistry in school...just for an example.

I do agree that it is the right choice for some people, but i personally wouldn't homeschool my kids JUST because they are getting picked on. children need to learn how to stick up for themselves (and this is going to sound like a guy thing..) EVEN if it means physically standing up for yourself. You can't let everybody walk all over you or else where will you get in the workplace?
