I see your point, But I would love to live in the woods the rest of my life. I used to dream of that as a little kid, like gilligans island. I know it's not a joking matter but i really would love going to the mountains making my own shelter, gathering my own food, away from the city, away from all the troubles... But thats just me, guess thats what you get from a kid that grew up isolated.pixiegirl said:But by making that choice you limit your options on getting out of that situation. How can you get a job and get back on your feet if you have no address to put on an application? I understand the not wanting to take the help but I'd take the help for a short time until I got back onto my feet before I'd just give up and be satisfied to live in the woods for the rest of my life.
the homeless problem also exists in lexington park by the library, i saw a tent back in that little patch of woods and winos asking people for money, lady at the library said the authorities are aware they leave the people alone unles a) they commit a crime or b) there is a hypothermia alert and they are at risk, i say leave em alone if they arent bothering anyoneMagnum said:Ok this is kinda sad. Yesterday I was riding around in Waldorf and I saw a bunch of trash in the woods from the road. I happened to notice a metal grate leaning against a tree that I could use. Well I pull over to check it out, This was not just an ordinary dump, I heard a dog barking and looked closer.I could see that it looked like little tents were made out of the trash. So I got back in my truck and this lady came out of there, said she lived there and Kinda scary that people are just living in the woods, but also that this is happening to begin with. Makes you step back and take a look at your life and be grateful of all that you have.

A lot of these people choose to live this way and some do not. The ones who do choose do not like to seek out assistance because they are too proud to ask for any, which is really sad. Then there are those who do not know any better than to be out there on their own because they have forgotten what it is like to live with a roof overhead and a hot meal that doesn't come from a dumpster. What makes me sicker to my stomach is the fact we, as the U.S., send out all this humanitarian (sp ?) to other starving countries, and we have just as many people living on the streets here as they do in the entire country. But here in the US, there is very little done to help the homeless other than the shelters.

See I'm the type of person that always try to help other people, I don't like turning people away, but I guess in this case they did not ask for help, so I should just stay out of it and stop at the nearest Thrift store to pick up a few blankets and drop them off for those folks.
From the looks of their compound they were set up pretty wellNanny Pam said:Awwwwwww
