:burning: I think HOA fees are a joke.

I can't get over the fees at the Ranch Club and Wildewood!!!!!!

What are these people thinking???!!! We pay close to $300 a year, but I don't see any results beyond the grass cutting and the lights throughout the neighborhood. It seems like such a waste.

Plus, the HOA members (prez/vice-prez) aren't tough about the rules, so we have people parking everywhere and making the "common areas" into nasty areas. It just makes me mad and there's nothing I can do except hand over my check each year.

Well, I live in Wildewood and I pay $1,000 a year for it. Yep, $250 every three months. Takes care of trash, parking lot electricity (I guess), landscaping/blowing leaves, resurfacing of the parking area, the water fee for those that use the car wash area and I guess some other little things I may be forgetting. Seems kinda steep compared to others. I wouldn't mind if they could actually get the parking lot lights and walkway lights to work on a consistent basis.

I also live in a Wildewood condo that I own and my fee is 260 every 3 months. It does take care of all of that pluse the insurance on the building and mainteance of the building.. I think the price is super High and you are right the lights don't work half that time.

True story. In the last neighborhood I live in, there was a family that wanted to build a pen and raise chickens and pigs. Luckily, the association worked in this case and squashed the attempt. The covenants specifically forbid livestock.

Pilot, does your $275 include most of the other things I mentioned? Maybe we have a sticky-fingered treasurer.

Tipsy:

As far as I know, it does with the possible exception of the carwash. I didn't know there was a carwash in Wildewood. Can Phase I use it?

But, yes at our end, we have roads to be resurfaced, leaves to be cleaned up, snow removal, grass mowing, plus the Phase I clubhouse. They seem to be doing an adequate job, so I've never looked into it too deeply.

Sorry, by no means did I mean carwash. I mean there's a public water hose in each complex for people to use. Someone mentioned insurance earlier, and I guess that does cost a little.

Our homeowners is $125, but there are only 22 lot owners. It includes community pier maintenance, new special-cut boat ramp keys every year (so that you can't make dupes and pass them out), neighborhood sign maintenance/landscaping, association tax preparation (the tax accountant does it nearly for free--I think this is included??). I can't remember all of the budget items, but that seems reasonable to us.

Our HOA fees are $125/yr, pays for road improvements (just paved the road 5 years ago, and are saving for repaving when the road needs it), snow removal, landscaping, boat ramp maintenance, insurance and other misc. stuff. We have a HOA meeting once a year with a pot-luck picnic, and update everyone on the finances, where the money went, what's needed in the community, and what has been happening in our area of the county that we need to address as a group. Its a small group, but very effective.
