I was looking forward to seeing what how .50 Beowulf would do but I've had a hard time getting enthusiastic about deer hunting in recent years since the missus won't eat venison regardless of how it is prepared or what it is mixed with. That and buddies give me some good venison sausage every year.350 legend is a worthless 9MM you want knockdown get the proven 45/70
My days in the woods are slowly getting less the older I get..Almost gone are time spent in the woods scouting thru out the off season /now I have 1 ground blind that I leave in the woods and spray it down with Thompson water seal a couple 3 times in the summer time and 2 ladder stands that will grow into the tree as Im never taking them down and 1 in my basement that Im refurbishing to put up and leave in place/I seen some nice deer this year but let them walk because I did not feel like looking for them and then cleaning them/I used to live for deer season especially bow season I always cut and set up my own arrows and tune them and the bow now my equipment is collecting dust in the basement.I was looking forward to seeing what how .50 Beowulf would do but I've had a hard time getting enthusiastic about deer hunting in recent years since the missus won't eat venison regardless of how it is prepared or what it is mixed with. Back when I hunted every year, we had unlimited access to the Goshen Scout Reservation property and even stayed in the staff cabins; vacant during the winter months. Miss those days....first times I took my son hunting was down there.
I have unlimited hunting opportunities between my own island property (had to stop halfway down my driveway just yesterday to let four deer decide which side of it they wanted to be on..LOL) and the offshore island club that I help manage. On my place I've got about 4 acres of thick woods that are always full of deer, and I have licensed onshore and offshore waterfowl blinds. At the other island, 40 acres in total, we have 8 blinds and numerous deer stands...and a deer population that varies around an average of about 20 head. But I'm getting old and lazy and don't like being cold...My days in the woods are slowly getting less the older I get..Almost gone are time spent in the woods scouting thru out the off season /now I have 1 ground blind that I leave in the woods and spray it down with Thompson water seal a couple 3 times in the summer time and 2 ladder stands that will grow into the tree as Im never taking them down and 1 in my basement that Im refurbishing to put up and leave in place/I seen some nice deer this year but let them walk because I did not feel like looking for them and then cleaning them/I used to live for deer season especially bow season I always cut and set up my own arrows and tune them and the bow now my equipment is collecting dust in the basement.
