Hot Pot Retaurant

Now that you are a member of the forum, do you not have any opinions on any other topics other than this restaurant?

5 posts now, and they are all about this particular place. :really:

Honestly....no. Nor did I ever claim otherwise. I got on here specifically to put out the great experience I had with them. Try it.....don't try it...it's not like I can force you. As I posted from the beginning this was for partially for selfish reasons. I just figured it would also be a win-win for everyone. The restaurant would get more customers, the customers could get a good meal and I could get to see the resaurant I enjoy so much prosper. I am not going to get into a pissing contest over it. If I find something else in the future that impresses me as much then I will post it on here. Although Jerry's seafood in Prince Frederick really does deserve a shout out! That place is awesome too but a bit to expensive to eat all the time.

I was not aware they did special orders. I said they were open to it. AGAIN, I CANNOT SPEAK FOR THEM AS I AM NOT ASSOCIATED, but you could call and ask. I did not expect the negative feedback directed at me for just trying to promote what I think is a great place to eat with great service. I will just leave this forum at that.

To all who may have frequented this restaurant please add your thoughts so others may make their decision to give it a try....or not.

Don't let 'em give ya any crap, Lorren. You're perfectly within your rights as a user of this forum to create an account and post anywhere you like, even 7 times in one thread. And if you wanna plug a restaraunt you like, go for it. You're not obligated to show your credentials to anyone.

You'll find, as I did, that there are some people with accounts on the SOMD forum who've been here awhile and think that anybody who's nick they don't recognize is a troll, and they feel they've some kind of right to weed them out. Happened to me when I first signed up too.

Welcome to southern Maryland.

Please excuse me for this but I am not a paid endorser, just a paying customer who finally ate at the Hot Pot. So this is just my $0.02, I am by no means a professional food critic (I just love to eat FOOD).

I picked up some take out last night, from The Hot Pot. It's the first time that I have ever set foot inside that building (been in Mechanicsville area for 27 years). Inside was clean and pleasant, the staff was quick and responsive.

As for the food, a little over $26.00 bought Chicken Lo Mein with fried rice (dinner), Szechuan Beef with white rice (dinner), a Large Wonton soup, and Fried Crab Dumplings. 1 each egg roll came with each of the meals. Overall the food was very good, I would say great but the Szechuan Beef usually has some spice to it and it was weak in the heat department (even my pepper averse g/f did not think that this was spicy at all). Both meals had copious amounts of food (rice and main portion) and had a nice quantity of meat in both dishes. The egg rolls were average, the dumplings were very tasty (they were served with a small bowl filled with Sweet and Sour Sauce) no sauces were need for there as the filling was very good all by itself.

And the whole reason why I ate Chinese for dinner last night - my g/f had a taste for Wonton Soup. We have been to the place next to Tequila Grill, the soup is ok there but nothing to write home about. The soup from the Hot Pot was a pleasant surprise, according to my g/f the only thing that was missing from the soup was the small pieces of pork in the broth or a heartier broth. The soups from other restaurants usually come with very few wontons, not the case here. There were 13 wontons in the container and they tasted great. G/f was pleased so I had a quiet night (We were both happy - rare occasion)

In the end, I think that the Hot Pot is worth a visit and I will be going back for more food from them in the future. There will be 5-6 meals made out of dinner so it is also cost effective if you are not an over-eater. Save your ill remarks about writing about this for the likes of JPC and his threads. I feel that this is my way of doing a little community service by describing good or bad experiences about our local businesses.

What a surprise!!!! I have lived near this place for ten years and never ventured in because it does not look like much from the outside and the reputation the previous owner had earned was bad.

Was this since the new owners? I know years ago under the old owners we tried it once and never ordered again.

OK so you've "never ventured in" but you "tried it once"? While I wasn't questioning whether you were affiliated with the restaurant or not, I have to question the story a little since you're inconsistent.

Either way, I'll probably check them out. The worst thing that can happen is I'll come back here and slam your review. :yay:

wish they would put a pf changs down here. getting tired of all the lame chinese places.

Have you tried Teariffic? It's not amazing but it's definitely a pretty good chinese place. The best one in town easily. It's also far less greasy than the average takeout place. PF Changs is pretty decent but I'd probably flip a coin between the two since you get a pretty good value for your buck.

nobody really

Teariffic is in San Souci, right behind the Famous Footwear (thanks wr!), which is to the left of the Marshall's. It's actually on the side of the plaza, near Thai Inter. It's a weird location since nobody realizes there's anything past Foot Locker that's still connected to the plaza. They've been there for a few years. They also do a lot of teas, but I've never been a tea fan.

I can see how you would be so offended by people...since you know, you have posted 10 times. :coffee:

Yes, I know of the place that you are talking about. I noticed it for the first time ever Friday night after dinner at Thai Inter. Not to correct you but to help others reading this the place is directly behind Famous Footwear in San Souci. So they are really good, huh? Do they have lunch hours or dinner only? Got any recommendations?
