I don't think Ike's gonna become a Category 3. The pressure's kept between 950-954 going up and down. It's not strengthening any right now.

Cat 3 or not, Houston floods after a couple days of rain. I'm glad I'm not there.
Very true. The only NFL game to ever be rained out was at the Astrodome. The field is below ground level and it was flooded.

My brother is stuck in Huston :bawl:
Evacuation traffic is at a stand still, there is no gas, no food, no wood to board up windows. I tried to call him but I can't get a hold of him. I talked to mom and she said to just pray for him.

:huggy:

Will keep him and all there in my prayers.

I have friends out there that were evacuated last night. He's in sight distance of the beach.... If they even get half of the 20 foot surge that's predicted, not going to be much left.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
A buddy of mine from work is down in Austin visiting one of his former neighbors, luckily they both have some sense about them and the neighbor had evac plans made last weekend.

Wasn't that a mighty storm...
Wasn't That A Mighty Storm by Nanci Griffith Lyrics
Tom Rush does a great version of this song.

(Traditional; Arrangement by Tom Rush & Eric Von Schmidt)

[Chorus:]
Wasn't that a mighty storm
Wasn't that a mighty storm in the morning, well
Wasn't that a mighty storm That blew all the people all away

You know the year of 1900
Children, many years ago
Death came howling on the ocean
Death calls, you got to go
Now Galveston had a seawall
To keep the water down, and a
High tide from the ocean
Spread the water over the town

[Chorus]

You know the trumpetS give them warning
You'd better leave this place
Now, no one thought of leaving
'til death stared them in the face
And the trains they all were loaded
The people were all leaving town
The trestle gave way to the water
And the trains they went on down

[Chorus]

Rain it was a' falling
Thunder began to roll
Lightning flashed like hell fire
The wind began to blow
Death the cruel master
When the wind began to blow
Rode in on a team of horses
T cried, "Death, won't you let me go".

[Chorus]

Hey, now trees fell on the island
And the houses give away
Some they strained and drowned
Some died in most every way
And the sea began to rolling
And the ships they could not stand
And I heard a captain crying
"God save a drowning man".

[Chorus]

Death your hands are clammy
You got them on my knee
You come and took my mother
Won't you come back after me
And the flood it took my neighbor
Took my brother too
I thought I heard my father calling
And I watched my mother go

[Chorus]

You know the year of 1900
Children, many years ago
Death came howling on the ocean
Death calls, you got to go

[Chorus 2x]

I just looked at all the live traffic cams around Houston. Hardly any traffic at all.

FNC is reporting that a lot of people stayed behind and officials are predicting alot of SAR ops coming up. You would think that after Gustav and all the people who evacuated from NOLA to Houston they would have learned there lessons.

Announcing curfew rules now and the storm is coming on the high tide just like 1900.
