How do you stop from getting knots in your hair?

A gremlin tied a nasty knot in my hair last night. I brushed it for 20 minutes this morning trying to get it out but my arms finally failed and I gave up. How do you keep this from happening and how do you get them out without tearing most of your hair out?

It helps if you isolate the knotted section and start brushing or combing from the bottom towards the top. You just have to be patient and work it loose slowly bit by bit. Use your fingers as well as the brush/comb, and try not to yank or rip it out.

I tried that but ended up tearing out little hair knots. It sucked :ohwell:

oh then its easy. Coat your entire head in mayo befor eyou go to bed at night. not just your hair..your whole head. Thats the secret trick.

Really? That's what I'm looking for, something I can do to keep it from happening again.

1. Braid your hair before bed or place it in a loose ponytail/bun. Yes...it's manly isn't it?

Go to Walmart and buy Aussie Moist Conditioner and a spray bottle. Mix the condition 1 part conditioner to 3 parts water. OR just use it in the shower and condition your hair-brushing the conditioner through out your hair. The knots will fall out. - but not your hair.
