How do you stop from getting knots in your hair?

Thanks everybody for your help, I brushed ole' moppy last night before I went to bed and then I brushed again this morning before my shower and that seemed to help. No knots this morning. :coffee: I put some of the suggestions on the shopping list and I'll see if the shopping fairy brings them home or not. :ohwell:

one thing that people didn't mention, is that you can purchase a comb that have the teeth spread apart wide, or a brush that has the hard, plastic teeth, but again with the bristles spread apart.

this works on my hair!

I'm glad that I read the thread before posting. Everyone with long hair, should get the comb MP wrote about. Wal-Mart has them. They're plastic, and wide-toothed. $1.88, and it has a hook that you can hang it on the shower head. I have long, baby-fine hair that tangles easily. I put Conditioner in my hair, and comb it in the Shower. That always does the trick.

Those combs are the bomb! I used to have long, baby-fine hair that tangles easily. I now have short baby-fine hair that tangles easily. My youngest used to have very long, very thick hair that tangled easily. She now has short, very thick hair that tangles easily. My grandkids have very fine, very long, very curly hair that tangles easily. My point is, those combs are a must have for any type hair. You should never use a fine toothed comb or brush on wet hair. Use conditioner and then a wide toothed comb to get the tangles out first, then a brush if you need to. :buddies:

Can you please post a picture of said comb? :ohwell:

I cut my hair super short before starting on my Cancer treatments 17 years ago. It took me a long time before getting the guts to let it grown long again. I know that sounds stupid, but that's the way I felt. Anyway, I was told that it's not good period, to use a Brush on any hair, wet, or dry. It's also not good to comb it when it's wet, unless you have conditioner in your Hair, in the shower.. My Stylist is amazed that I hardly have any split ends when I come in for my quarterly trim. Thanks to the wide toothed Comb!

:yay: I have super thick curly/wavy long hair. I listen to my stylist and only brush my hair right before I wash it, and I'm only allowed to wash it every other day at most :ohwell:
