How popular would a hookah lounge be?

There was a hookah bar at "The Honch" in Yokosuka. Everytime I went out there (either on liberty or on shore patrol) there were only like 2 or 3 people there MAX.

I think they only reason that place stayed open was because the place was in the Honch.... when you have hundreds of boozed up sailors passing by your store front every weekend you are bound to get business.

Being ex-military, I usually dont have the paitience to deal with crap from teenage kids. Some of the issues you guys brought up are issues that my wife and I have talked about. First and foremost is the kids just hanging out. I will not be catering to non paying patrons. I have the right to refuse buisness to anyone I see fit and it is that right that will allow me to keep those trouble making kids out of my establishment. I am 28 years old and want to provide a cool atmosphere for the more mature crowd to relax. As far as the profit goes, I am not looking to get rich. I have friends in Va Beach that live pretty good on the income they make from their own lounges. They sell hookahs and other hookah related products to make a little more profit but as I stated before, im not trying to get rich. I am also not running a head shop. I will not be selling any legal pot or stuff like that. The only thing I will be selling smoke wise is shisha. People found with this stuff in my buisness will be asked to leave. Im not trying to make a night club, just a place for adults and mature individuals to gather and chill. As far as the no smoking indoors thing, I have been on the phone with the courts and no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer. I know you cant smoke in areas that serve food. If anyone might know where I might find that out, please let me know.

My wife and I were talking the other day about starting a business. I came up with the idea of a hookah lounge in the local (lexington park/Great Mills) area. From the looks of things there used to be one down here but it closed. My only question is how many people would actually support it. If I can get an idea of how many of you out there would like to see this happen, I'll start on the foot work to see what steps i need to take. My business would provide a calm atmosphere for friends to come relax and have a good smoke. I would also provide wifi at no additional cost. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

St. Mary's Rednecks + Hookah Lounge = FAIL

Personally I think the only way around it is to have it attached to a resturant down here. So if people don't want to smoke a hookah, they can stil eat. I know there is a place in the Poconos that is a Russian/Eygptian resturant (the wife is Russian, the husband Eygptian) and they had a place in the back to smoke, but the smell was not "bad" (smell more like Roses to me). So either way they win, food and hookah's (which surprising, people actually came in there to eat, not to smoke, there was only one dude smoking and he ended up ordering something to eat).

I think it would be a great idea. I would hit that place every weekend. I am abit cautious about it running down here.

I love the idea. However, I think it would be a more weekend type business versus 7 days a week down here. I just got back from London and the 2 weeks that I was there we smoked a shisha. Hubby's cousin make these really wicked ones out of fresh fruit, then puts in a mix of various flavors. The result was absolute. Learnt new techniques to make a shisha.

Good Luck!
