LOS ANGELES - The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, winning five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group’s anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion. The Texas trio won record and song of the year for the no-regrets anthem “Not Ready to Make Nice.” They also won best country album, which was especially ironic considering that the group says they don’t consider themselves country artists anymore.

“I’m ready to make nice!” lead singer Natalie Maines exclaimed as the group accepted the album of the year award. “I think people are using their freedom of speech with all these awards. We get the message.”

 Their voices suck, their music sucks, their music is too political and I could sell more albums than them. How the eff did they get album of the year?

They got on my last nerve with their little anti-Bush statements before the war...

"Goodbye Earl" is the worst song ... ever.

There's the answer to your question.
Yep, who does the voting for the Grammy's?? It was a political statment not a "Who's the best singing group" statement.

The Grammys are not representative of popular opinion - it is an "industry" award.

Spoken like the true, arrogant b!tch she is! No Natalie, the people have not spoken -- your record company has. :smack:

Grammy Awards Voting Process

The process begins with members and record companies submitting entries, which are then screened for eligibility and category placement. The Academy's voting members, all involved in the creative and technical processes of recording, then participate in (1) the nominating process that determines the five finalists in each category; and (2) the final voting process which determines the GRAMMY winners......link

:yeahthat:

I always wondered how some of the "artists" win these awards when they suck like a Hoover, then I found out who does the voting - other suckdogs.

I agree 100%. If they didn't bash Mr. Bush, nobody would buy their albums.

Carrie Underwood is the best country-music artist, hands down.

The entire entertainment industry has taken up the anti-Bush/anti-war cause. This was an industry protest to it all. That's all, nothing else.

Brokeback Mountain - what a joke. :lmao:

I've never heard of half the movies they nominate for the Oscars, nonetheless win.

I hope this serves as a wake up call for those that knew they were more derserving to win that politics played above fairness and honesty.

:yeahthat: I'm sure the jackoff mother ####ers who voted in this though Carrie Underwood's music was "Too christian." Hence: Jesus Take the Wheel and Don't Forget to Remember Me.

But it's OK to bash religion as a whole.

When a movie is nominated/wins an award, I take it as a signal that I do not want to see the movie. There are exceptions though (Brokeback is not an exception).

"Crash" was one of the best movies I've ever seen... Notice WTC isn't up for any Grammys even though that is truly an empowering movie. You know why, because it spotlights the good in America. If we potray to the world that Americans are good people who do things for others, other countries may like us as people. We don't want to do that, we want to show that we're thugs and criminals and fags and killers.

Pffft I haven't watched the Grammys since that 'Jethro Tull being picked over Metallica' fiasco years ago.

Yeah, I saw that early this morning.

You know what gets me? Album of the Year is very often given to that rare album which almost is a watershed in the industry - an instant classic. A truly exceptional work.

Sgt. Pepper. Tapestry. Songs in the Key of Life. Rumours. The Joshua Tree. Graceland. Nick of Time. Jagged Little Pill. Supernatural. Come Away With Me.

Notice I didn't even list the artist's names. Because you KNOW them already. What's more is, they USUALLY have great popularity. The Joshua Tree is often considered one of the best rock albums ever done, and still is U2's best. To me, Songs IS Stevie Wonder, and Pepper IS the Beatles.

But this? This wasn't even their best album, and they've only made four with Natalie.

This was political, and whether or not you agree, it's just stupid. I'd have hated to have been in competition against these guys and lost because people voted for this. You have to have a great album to sweep the top four - and this album hasn't even got a single noteworthy song.

Give the album of the year to a bunch of tree-hugging liberals who haven't done a damn thing or give it to a Christain who earned her spot at the top of the record charts by going through a rigorous competition and being voted by America as a music icon. :yay:
