Steny Hoyer and his Employee have done more than any one else to destroy our rural community and to bring in big business to occupy our once little County, BUT NOW, his idea of preserving our history and our rural farming heritage is that Steny Hoyer is supplying up to $200,000. to preserve tobacco barns. This is the way our high representative and his employee saves our County farms from the oligarchy Base expansion.

See the Link here, SOMD. News. Hoyer's Bacca Barns.

To me the tobacco barns are not some thing to be proud of. It is a part of our infamous past. I grew up here in SMC and my first job at 15 years old was working a tobacco farm in Hollywood. It was dirty, nasty, hard labor and if anyone goes to a Hoyer tobacco barn as a tourist destination paid for by federal money then know this, that Steny Hoyer and his employee were the ones that did the most to destroy our area farms by their greedy Base expansion and now to preserve the nasty tobacco barns as a County monument is Steny Hoyer at his very best.

It is called preserving our history, JPC. Let's get rid of the Dr. Samuel Mudd house because he helped Boothe. Let's stop teaching slavery in school, because it is not something we should be proud of. Get a grip.

:yeahthat: Not only that, but I like seeing the fields and the barns, no matter if it's a horse barn or a tobacco barn. It's a serene setting in the country. Its part of the scenery and more importantly, isn't this part of the rural, non-developed St. Mary's county pastural ideology/image you want to preserve in the first place? No developers.

Does this Federal Grant money ensure that the barn property will never be developed or is it improvement money to merely add value to the property?

Many of us did this. It taught me the value of a hard day's work and the the value of a dollar at the same time. I'm not at all ashamed of sweating in a tobacco field and neither should you be.
