Sorry, but my new HP laptop also has 4gigs of RAM in it. I figure I won't be needing anymore for some time to come. (duh! - it's maxxed out!)
The desktop upstairs has 768mg of RAM, plus the new video card I had installed has it's own 256mg of Ram on board.

So, computer nerds - how much RAM is in your machines?

Mine uses all of it's RAM, it has 64bit Vista, but that is the only thing I see about 64bit Vista that is worth the money.

Question though?

Isn't 64 bit software programs the thing of the future?

And, how far away are we from having ALL programs upgrading to 64 bit?

Yes, it is a thing of the future, however it has been out for XP Professional for sometime.

I have not a clue when they will go 64 bit on everything. I will tell you this, I am having a hell of a time finding things that are compatible with 64bit Vista.

I am stuck with Norton antivirus because it is the only program other than McAfee that will run with it. Since it came with the computer I am using it.

I have several people of programs I already own telling me they are working on a solution for their programs to run with 64 bit Vista and they will have it fixed soon. I, however, am not holding my breath!

I use the free edition of AVG Anti-Virus on my PC Desktop; so far no major problems.

BUT, it updates very slowly, AND, there's no tech support available for that free edition! You have to upgrade to the $$$ version to get any help from them.

Not cool.

Thanks but no thanks, got one the worst viruses I ever had running AVG free. Never again. I always believe you get what you pay for unless of course you buy a Dell! :lmao:

If you choose to use Windows, then choose not to use internet explorer. I have Windows PCs that I have set up for the most novice of computer users. It runs Free AVG, Commodo (also free), and Firefox. Years of trouble free use, and they have children.

I use Firefox, and I use Norton 2008 Security Suite. So far so good. I also you spybot S & D better than nothing.

I stopped by Staples again, today, and asked about a Vista software upgrade to the 64bit version, and there isn't one yet. If you want to get it, you have to purchase the Vista Ultimate package, priced at $320.00.

Not today! :lmao:
