I was supposed to bawl my eyes out over "Old Yeller". When I watched it with my kids, my first thought was, I'm so used to dog movies being sad and dogs dying at the end of the movie, it had zero effect on me.
Heartless Bastard...
Years ago, Me & a co worker were car pooling to work. I'd mentioned that I had watched Old Yeller that weekend with the kids.
Jokingly, he said Old Yeller got what he deserved.
Unjokingly, I pulled over, told him to get out and walk to work. As I'm pulling off, I rolled down the window & told him he was just getting what he deserved

I won't watch movies where the dog dies. People, meh - gun 'em down. Except little kids - I won't watch movies where they die, either.

Don’t recognize either of those.

I can tell you one movie to avoid, eight below.

Looks like Benji and Milo and Otis.

There's actually a web site devoted to avoiding movies where the dog dies.
It just happens too often. Heck, even in John Wick, the dog dies, and it's not about the dog.

I don’t think any of the dogs died in the K9 series with Jim Belushi.
