Hunting season

Have a nuisance?Im 4 hire
A little advice

I will chime in here for a second or two.

The main thing Horse back riders need to keep in mind are a few things.

1.There are bad apples in every bunch.
2.I would advise not to ride on any area that is open to the public (public hunting grounds) especially during gun season for deer.
3.If you ride on private property with permission from the owner,Make sure you ask the property owner if he allows hunting on there property,If he/she does.....I would suggest not riding horses on there till,Deer season is done.
4.If you have your own private property ,Than make sure it is "clearly Marked" No trespassing?hunting every 20 feet along property border.
5.I know of 13 differant occasions over the years were horses have been shot /or shot at during deer season,And All 13 were riding on public hunting land,and/or trespassing on private property were they shouldnt be there anyway.

Main thing is Be Careful......If you do not feel comfortable riding in an area,Do not go .If you dont ahve permision to ride on a property Dont.If you do have permmsion to ride,Check with landowner to make sure they do not allow hunting.

And Yes ,To call everyone whome hunts a hunter,is Pollitically correct,But you have to realize that many of these so called hunters a the very rich folk, whome hunt only one or two times a year, and dont have a clue ,and yes many will ahoot at anything that looks like a deer.

Again ,Just be careful and know your surroundings when riding your horses.

Just in case you havn't heard, 2 of our sundays this year have been given to the hunters. Slap me, but I forget which ones, I think one is the one after Thanksgiving.

Please pass it on, as I didn't know till recently and have always gone with the assumption that Sundays are safe days.

I think it sucks.

Not just for riders, but for hikers and bikers and bears, oh my.

From DNR's website:

Sunday Deer Hunting: Deer Firearm's Season Season is open on Sunday, November 30, 2003 for Calvert, Caroline, Cecil, Charles, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, St. Mary's, and Talbot Counties on private lands only.

Sunday hunting is only allowed on private land. I don't see where any riders, hikers, and bikers have any worries as long as they check with the private land owner first. As for any public lands like Greenwell, they are off limits to Sunday hunting.

Thank you Bulldawg! That is a load off. We are still in the middle of tons of private hunters, but I feel better that the public land is still public. I still wish it was better publicized though. Alot of riders and bikers don't know.

I have permission to ride on the land of alot of my neigbors, but alot of them hunt Saturdays, so I only go Sunday. I still wear alot of bright orange. and sing. That is usually sufficient to even scare the bears.
