It is unbelievable what the Micro Burst from these storms can do in damage...I would not wish for them...not to mention the flooding...

and days without power....

Yeah, I enjoy thunderstorms and the occasional tropical depression, but I don't want to lose my roof or anything. Nor do I want to have to evacuate with a 6 year old, an 80 pound dog and a cat.

:yeahthat: not looking forward to potential big storm with a not quite 3 yr old and a not quite 3 month old. especially given thgat the not quite 3yo has developed a fear of thunder since a tree fell on/next to the house in may.

I can not imagine what it would be like for you without power for a few days......and it seems to get so humid after these storms, and no AC, that stinks.....

Ok I'm confused. Your graphic shows it heading for Cuba. How is this not promising for us??
Some tend to think a hurricane anywhere in the Atlantic is a threat to us. Ike is looking more like a FL storm or maybe even another Gulf storm. If its northern turn starts before FL, that's when it's time to pay closer attention. Besides, trying to predict these things beyond 72 hours is a waste.

Last night on the weather channel they showed the mind patterns around Florida and said they will shoot it right up the coast. Then again, like you said, you can never predict these things too far in advance.

Tough to predict. Isabel was also supposed to hit Florida. The Weather Channel's been firm on this though, they believe it will turn and it will come up this way regardless of where it makes landfall.

flooded our campground and took power out for 2 days when she went north of us. My fifth wheel sat with 8 others in a grocery store parking lot for 2 days. Lords knows what Ike will do if he comes up the nature coast. Can't wait until my job is done down here so I can get the hell out........ Hurricane's + me = sissygirl!
